“The best value in town”

The G suites are not in the same league as the main stream brand hotels but for what it lacks in status it makes up for in homeliness. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean and the staff are friendly. A better than average breakfast and a great location for shopping in G Town - and only a 10 minute walk from Foggy Bottom and access to the metro (and anywhere in DC metro). Also 1 minute to the Circulator bus stop for the cheapest transport in town.
The family suites will easily take two adults and two grown children and the two story appartments are even better (for $50 extra).
I am an instant fan of the place which says a lot as I have been living on and off in DC for the last 10 years (I wish I had found it much sooner).

Room Tip: The *10 rooms are the largest but spend the extra $50 and upgrade to the town houses if they are ava...

“Stayed at the 29th Street Location & It was very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

First of all, the staff is wonderful at this hotel. We were with a group of people (TAPS) and had a large block of rooms reserved for the group. My husband & I checked in right around 3pm and we were given a room very quickly. It had a king sized bed, small but full kitchen (microwave, stove, fridge, sink) and lovely bathroom.

Parking is an additional $30 which we didn't realize. Make sure you add this to the price of the room. Our room cost about $149 plus taxes. Thankfully TAPS covered the cost because this price is a little out of our comfort zone. My husband & I have three criteria when choosing a hotel room: clean sheets and towels, a working TV with remote and no bugs. Of course all three were fulfilled with this room.

We slept right through the breakfast so I don't have any reviews on that. The bed was extremely comfortable. To upgrade to two beds would have been an additional $30 (I toss & turn a lot so the hubby & I usually get two beds when on vacation).

We were given a room on the 3rd floor and the traffic was extremely noisy. We always bring a white noise machine with us but the sounds were heard over the white noise machine - especially when someone beeped or a police/ambulance/fire engine went past. It would have been even worse without the machine's noise. I would recommend asking for a higher floor.

The bathroom looked like it was recently re-done and had gorgeous wall paper, a tiled shower and a granite countertop. I would have liked if they had upgraded the shower head to something different but it was fine for one night.

Everything in the kitchen worked, but it looked older. It could use a remodel and I'm sure the hotel staff knows this. It was fully stocked with plates, bowls, cups, glasses, etc.

Overall we had a nice time. With taxes and parking, the bill would have been almost $200. If TAPS wasn't paying for the bill, I would not have stayed here. My husband & I usually find something for under $100 that fits our needs. But it was fun to stay at a nicer hotel!

“Best deal per square foot in georgetown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I have stayed here for business and with family during vacation. For the size of the room you get, you can't beat the price in this area. Even the smallest one-bedroom rooms are larger than most NYC apartments. Yes, the decor is circa 1982, but honestly, for the space you get, it's easy to overlook. Location is great. Biggest hassles are PARKING. Underground garage with low ceilings. If you have anything bigger than a small SUV, good luck. Also they charge $30 a day. Kind of high for parking. The elevators are torturously SLOW. If you don't mind the stairs, start taking them. The staff at the front desk is very helpful. Basically, what you miss in a big expansive lobby and in-hotel, on-site amenities, like a great gym, or a gift shop, or a restaurant, you MORE than make up for in the amount of space you get for the price you pay. I had to stay longer than expected due to weather, and the staff was great about accommodating me. Housekeeping is ok. I had to ask for new shampoo bottles every day. And the TV listing was missing in my room. They said they would bring one up and never did. These things aside, it's a great place. If you have kids, its really like renting an apartment. That's the space you get. Would recommend, and it's why I keep coming back, too.

“Excellent deal for the money”

If you are not looking for a 5 star hotel, and want location, and a large room at a great price, then this is an excellent choice. You get a suite in the heart of Georgetown for a better rate than most hotels. The lobby is virtually nonexistent, and don't expect good service. But with a location a half a block off M street in the heart of Georgetown, you really can't get a better value in the DC area.

“Very pleasant room, 29th St. Building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

My stay started 'on the left foot', since I expected to be on 30th St (closer to my conference) - but I quickly found that that didn't matter much - lots to see in Georgetown, so walking an extra block or two was OK. The staff were helpful and pleasant.
My 'living room' area was clean, bright and fairly large, with desk, TV area, table and chairs (set for 4!). The kitchen (real stove, sink, refrigerator) was clean and adequate, though minimally furnished. The bedroom had no window, but that was a small price to pay for having a separate bedroom. Nice linens, comfortable bed, good-sized closet. The bathroom was small but clean and well lit. Everything worked well, including the free internet connection - which is a hassle in many hotels.
The lobby was a bit small, since it also served as the breakfast room. The complimentary breakfast buffet was satisfactory, if not exactly 'gourmet'. There were fresh fruits, juices, microwaveable egg&cheese biscuits, pastries, brew-your-own coffee, etc. - nice, especially since I didn't expect breakfast to be included.
The Georgetown location is great - many interesting shops and restaurants in walking distance. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but it hardly matters, since there is so much available nearby in terms of restaurants and take-out places.
