We spent three night at the Sofitel for MLK's birthday weekend. The hotel is in an amazing location. Service was excellent but not consistent (examples, my parents, in a different room, received an "orientation" on check in, no one picked up dirty dishes from the room, etc.). We got a key card (and no introduction to the room or hotel).
The room was very nice. Luxury rooms are long and narrow, but the hotel permits a 5 person occupancy (assuming children are in the mix). When they say double beds, they mean double and not queen. Still, we figured out that the couch folds out. You have to request linens, but that gave the extra sleeping room we needed. The room has no drawers for storage, but the closet area is very large and gave us room to put our suitcases out of sight of the room. Other people have described the rooms well, so I do not believe there is any need to cover that here. I do note that we had a street view and no noise problems.
The hotel arranged for a sitter for us. She was very nice, but expensive ($40/hr for 4 hours minimum).
Breakfast was not included in our rate (it is in some rates). We ate in the restaurant on two mornings. The food was good and more american than french (despite the baskets of croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin and mini baguettes), but tasty. We had no complaints, but the meals were quite pricey. They have crayons and paper for kids but no kids menu.
I ate lunch with my children one day in Le Bar. It was not as good as breakfast and even more expensive ($18 hamburger or croque monsieur). I have no complaints about the prices, but they are worthy of note.
Le Bar was busy at night and had a line on more the one occasion.
I cannot begin to explain how fantastic the location is. I would have given 41/2 stars if we could give 1/2s.
Room Tip: We did not stay in a corner room, but two corners can be connected (or an additional entry door can...
