I stayed here on a Saturday night in July. It was very hot and the hotel was a good oasis. Being unfamiliar with the university, it was difficult to find. I called for directions and was told "It's in the university, there are no cross streets". Know where you're going, it's right next to the hospital.
The hotel is convenient for seeing the campus, but a bit of a walk (15-20 minutes) to the hustle and bustle of M street in Georgetown. It's also hard to get a cab... I recommend not "calling for one". I mean, it is DC... so you'll have to walk a block or two to get to a busy street.
When I checked in, at 4pm, I was told that my room was not ready... and would only be ready in 45 minutes. I found that odd, and tried to get some sort of discount. They did offer to give me a voucher for the buffet.... and I thought that was not enough. The front desk clerk emphasized that the buffet is very good, and it indeed was delicious. It was a sit-down type of restaurant, apparently meant for faculty most of the year. The comped buffet price was $14... so it turned out to be a reasonable deal.
I stayed in an "Executive King" room. The room is great and has been recently remodeled. Everything is new, except for the tub. The sleep quality was great and the room had a great view. I think the remodeled rooms are on the higher floors... and you might actually get much more 'inferior' rooms if you book through one of the discount hotel sites. It's ironic..
Overall, service was good. Location was good, but it was a bit deserted in the middle of summer. That is to be expected of any college campus. I'd stay again because it's a great value.
