I actually wanted to give this property 2.5 stars because of the inaccurate room description, but it is not possible...
We stayed at the Residence Inn, Vermont Ave for 3 nights, February 2012. I booked the room at this hotel because I needed a one bedroom suite with two beds. Upon checking in, I was given a room with two beds and a kitchen/dining/living area, but no bedroom door. I immediately went back to the front desk and requested a room with a bedroom door. The clerk was nice and offered me another room, but--I was informed that there were no suites with two beds that had a bedroom door, even though I booked (and eventually paid for) a one bedroom suite. I actually paid more than I would've for a suite with a door because I requested two beds... Everyone at the hotel acted like it was okay to advertise a one bedroom even if the "bedroom" has no door. No concession was offered.
Thankfully, my 4 year old was fairly quiet in the mornings.
Additionally, even if you do not use the valet, you are immediately billed for all the nights of your stay if you have a car. The front desk staff agreed to remove one of the charges from the bill. We had to ask two additional times to have it removed.
Other than the false advertisment about the one bedroom suite and the valet bill issue, it was a nice hotel with a good location. If I had not been traveling with my family, the door would not have mattered. It was a large room.
Breakfast was great, with a waffle machine, some eggs and other hot items. They had all premium condiments, including flavored coffee creamers and Splenda and Equal. There were also continental items: yogurt, cereal, breads, and juice and soda machines. The breakfast staff is very accommodating. The eggs were somewhat runny, but I know some people like them that way.
The workout facility is very nice.
Housekeeping was excellent. The hotel staff was friendly except for one argumentative Valet Porter.
The McPherson Square Metro is a few blocks away. Cabs are abundant. Stan's, a pub down the street, has decent food and very real drinks.
I would've given the hotel a higher rating if I had gotten what I paid for.
