“Good Hotel - Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

When we were planning a long weekend in Washington, DC, we were looking for a hotel with reasonable rates and a good location. We found both in the Courtyard by Marriott. Located at the corner of F & 9th Street NW, all of the museums and galleries we wanted to visit were within easy walking distance. It is across the street from the Spy Museum and National Portrait Gallery, one block from Ford Theater, and about 3 (long) blocks from the the Mall and Smithsonian museums as well as the Newseum (a must see). Our room on the 7th floor didn't have a great view, but was comfortable and clean. The Bistro on the lower level offered a buffet breakfast which was good. We would definitely stay there again mostly because of its great location.

Room Tip: Elevator noise was evident in room 720 (and probably 620, 520, etc.).

“Great location”

This Courtyard is a great location and the rooms what you always expect from Courtyards. You're a block's walk to the Chinatown-Gallery Place Metro, right next to the Spy Museum, around the corner from Ford's Theater, a couple Smithsonian museums, and even close enough to the National Mall if you enjoy the walk.

The room was typical Courtyard. It was clean, well-appointed, and had a walk-in shower instead of a tub. Parking is valet only and reasonable, in our opinion, considering the area. It was $35 for 24 hours.

The hotel is right above the Gordon Biersch brewery/restaurant, which we enjoyed, needing a quick bite and couple of libations before we headed out to our destination.

“Still a great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My second time staying here, and continued to enjoy friendly service in a nice room. My room on the 5th floor overlooked F street, but was really quiet with almost no perceptible street noise. Check in and check out was effortless. Since my last trip, the restaurant downstairs has been replace with a more casual quick food setup, but it seemed really convenient (I didn't use it). The location of this hotel is great for nearby meetings, and the neighborhood is safe to walk around in. Three blocks from the National Mall. I recommend a visit to the Smithsonian American Art and Portraiture Museum, kiddy-corner from the hotel. Admission there is free, and it's an outstanding museum.

“Great for "doing DC"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Great location to do all the DC stuff. Right next to the Spy Museum and 1/2 mile to the White House and the Mall. The price was quite reasonable, though that might be partly due to fact our stay was a few days before Christmas (and all the business folks were gone).
Rooms are nice, a little squeeze for a family of four with only double beds. Bathroom very clean, tho also a bit small. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Got us driving directions to the zoo, and had other helpful information. In-door pool is a nice addition, with a whirlpool. Did get a bit noisy with a couple families as the space is a bit small. Was pleasantly surprised with an nu-advertised happy hour in the afternoons with wine and a simple entree, cheese, fruit and crackers. We would stay here again and have already told many friends about it.

“You can't beat the location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

This is a few blocks from The Verizon Center, Metro, The Spy Museum, The Portrait Museum of The Smithsonian, and most important (to us since it was our destination) The Newseum. There is night life and dining and shopping all surrounding this hotel and the mall and other destinations are easily accessible.

It's a beautiful building formerly a bank and redone very nicely by Marriott. We had a 7th floor room on the front side because we asked for a view. I'm not sure what the rooms without a view see but we were able to see the young people lining up at the bar on the opposite side of the street till we fell asleep sometime after 1 am.

Yea, we were able to hear them too, or atleast the bass of the music from within.

The bathroom was a little sideways with one of those stupid showers that lets you drip water all over the floor when you open it. I don't know why all the modern hotels seem to have them. Musta been ahelluva salesman, is all I can think.

But the room was clean and comfortable with a microwave and a fridge (very generous, thank you) and once we got to sleep we enjoyed a very restful night.

I would defintely stay there again but maybe next time I will find out what the people without a view see (and hear).
