I stayed here two nights on business in a standard room with a king bed. The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station, which is conveniently located on the Blue Line coming straight from DCA. Check-in was pleasant, friendly, and efficient. I was here for a meeting and found that the conference facilities and services were above average, with excellent food and refreshments. Also, the lobby bar staff were friendly and attentive, and my waitress even remembered me and said hello the next day as we were passing each other.
Now, on to the room. My room was plush, spacious, and very clean. The bed was divine and among the nicer beds I've slept in during my stays at other 4-star hotels. The room decor was soothing, with subtle Asian inspired details. There were a number of nice little touches to make the room more comfortable and useful. For instance, there is an automatic light in the closet that comes on when you open the door, there are reading lamps mounted to either side of the bed so that you could still read if the bedside lamp gave too much light, and there is a nice charging station built in to a drawer of the desk. For guests who like to make their own coffee or tea in the room, the hotel supplies an electric kettle and a Keurig machine. Little things, yes, but well thought out. The bathroom was one of the largest I've had in a hotel of this caliber and, again, very clean. I appreciated the spacious countertops, the amazing rain shower head, and the lovely Le Labo toiletries that left my hair and skin smelling like rose petals and sandalwood.
Unfortunately, I did not have an opportunity to try out the fitness center or the restaurant on site.
In short, the Fairmont Washington D.C. is a lovely hotel with excellent staff, high quality amenities, and a very good location with easy access to the DC Metro. I felt welcomed and pampered but without intrusiveness or fuss. Highly recommended. I hope I have an opportunity to stay here again.
