“Fantastic Stay!”

We loved this hotel! Everything about this hotel exudes class. Beautifully decorated, extremely service-oriented and warm staff, and the rooms were very comfortable and posh!

This was our first family trip in D.C. so we wanted something classy, moderately priced, and in great area of D.C. This fits the bill! The rooms were nicely furnished and the bathrooms were very clean. The high-end toiletries were a nice plus, too. It was also nice to have a electronic safe. We had our car valeted throughout our stay (placed in their underneath garage).

Btw, Walgreens is only a few blocks walking distance from the hotel if you need anything. And just as close, is "Bread and Chocolate" cafe. Yum - great for breakast and pastries!!

If we return to D.C., we will definitely consider staying here again!

“What a Treat!”

I had the pleasure of staying two nights for an on-site business meeting. Wow, I wish every business meeting I travel for was held at this hotel. Service was outstanding from the moment I stepped out of the taxi. The room was beautiful and well-appointed. One of the things I dread when staying at a hotel is the typical awful in-room coffee. I need good java before getting out of my pjs. Behold, The Fairmont has Keurig coffee makers with Green Mountain coffee. Yes!! Located a quick walk away from Georgetown for those looking for dining outside of the hotel or shopping.

“Lovely hotel gets all the details right”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I stayed overnight at the Fairmount for a business meeting and wished I could have moved in! The hotel is beautifully furnished, elegant without being fussy, and well equipped for both business and pleasure visits. Besides the luxe touches that have become almost standard, like comfy beds and robes and abundant desk outlets, the Fairmount includes details that other hotels would do well to add, such as snake-neck reading lamps attached to the bed that cast a cool spotlight right on your page; in-room Keurig coffee makers; and window panels that actually open for some fresh air. Even the coffee service at our meeting included classy touches like flavored syrups, and there were gigantic hot soft pretzels and mustard instead of the usual gluey cookies. One thing I can't comment on is price, because my room was prepaid, but I'll definitely check this place out on my next tourist trip to DC.

“Comfort and style”

I stayed here two nights on business in a standard room with a king bed. The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station, which is conveniently located on the Blue Line coming straight from DCA. Check-in was pleasant, friendly, and efficient. I was here for a meeting and found that the conference facilities and services were above average, with excellent food and refreshments. Also, the lobby bar staff were friendly and attentive, and my waitress even remembered me and said hello the next day as we were passing each other.

Now, on to the room. My room was plush, spacious, and very clean. The bed was divine and among the nicer beds I've slept in during my stays at other 4-star hotels. The room decor was soothing, with subtle Asian inspired details. There were a number of nice little touches to make the room more comfortable and useful. For instance, there is an automatic light in the closet that comes on when you open the door, there are reading lamps mounted to either side of the bed so that you could still read if the bedside lamp gave too much light, and there is a nice charging station built in to a drawer of the desk. For guests who like to make their own coffee or tea in the room, the hotel supplies an electric kettle and a Keurig machine. Little things, yes, but well thought out. The bathroom was one of the largest I've had in a hotel of this caliber and, again, very clean. I appreciated the spacious countertops, the amazing rain shower head, and the lovely Le Labo toiletries that left my hair and skin smelling like rose petals and sandalwood.

Unfortunately, I did not have an opportunity to try out the fitness center or the restaurant on site.

In short, the Fairmont Washington D.C. is a lovely hotel with excellent staff, high quality amenities, and a very good location with easy access to the DC Metro. I felt welcomed and pampered but without intrusiveness or fuss. Highly recommended. I hope I have an opportunity to stay here again.

“Excellent stay- stands out in DC.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I was in DC and a little hesitant to stay this far off the mall. The hotel is very close to Georgetown- not really walkable to the sites of Washington. However, it is still in a great area with access to trails, shopping- anything you need.
DC is a tough market because hotels are always very expensive. You can easily pay 200-400 and end up in a very average hotel room. In the Fairmont's case, however, there was no doubt that this was a luxury hotel.

Service was perfect from the moment I exited the car. Throughout my stay, the staff continually exceeded my expectations. They have a program called Fairmont Gold that is free to join and customizes your experience further- even down to the paper you receive in the morning.

I was very happy with the room assignment despite not having a view. Because it is in a population dense neighborhood, there are buildings very close. Your best bet is likely an interior courtyard view- mine looked across an alley into another building despite being on the 9th (of 10 floor). The room amenities were incredible. All the little things like a suit rack, shoe horn, gently dimming reading lights, the finest toiletries- nothing was spared.
The fitness center was great as well. It is a fitness club so there are more than just the regular guests there. That means there is also a lot more equipment than you'd normally expect.
I was there for a meeting and the meeting space was great. It even made the washed up vitriol of the politicians we heard somewhat more bearable!
I'd love to stay here again on my next visit. It is probably better for business than families due to the fact that it is a little distance from the mall.

Room Tip: I'd either try to face the street or the back courtyard if I could do it over again.
