This is not your typical blue roof Fairfield Inn. The quality was equal to a Courtyard property. The rooms were spacious, clean, and up to date. The desk space was functional and Internet speeds were good. The bed was comfortable and pillows perfect. The very staff member was friendly from e front desk to housekeepers and even the maintenance man I encountered in the elevator. Breakfast was similar to other Fairfield and Residence Inn locations. The food was fresh and the staff members over seeing breakfast were extremely friendly and attentive. The only negetive thing I did notice was that in room movies were not available.

- The location was very convenient for our business trip. It was also relatively easy to walk to all main attractions.
- Our king room was clean, very small, tiny closet, decent bathroom, good quality matress;
- Wireless internet was slow, just enough to check emails;
- Breakfast selection was standard, not very healthy options;
- Staff was very friendly, always with a smile.

Overall - good experience, will recommend.

On our 2011 Christmas trip, we discovered this hotel. The location, service, and breakfast were perfect! We were within 10 minutes walk of the White House, the Washington Mounument, the US Capitol, and all of the museums. With a 9 year old and a 6 year old this was great. The customer service was welcoming upon arrive, check out and during our stay. The breakfast was perfect. It was a little busy 20 minutes before closing but there was a wide array of items to choose from.

I can't speak to the value of the room for price paid, since my sister and I stayed there on her Marriott points (she's an Elite member). Location can't be beat -- about 1 1/2 blocks from Gallery Place Metro station and 2 blocks from Judiciary Square Metro station. As others have said, there are a lot of homeless around, but that's downtown DC. In the daytime I have no qualms about walking around. My sister and I walked from the Metro about 11pm; no problems since there were 2 of us, but if I were alone I'd have had second thoughts.

Hotel staff are excellent. The front desk greeted me whenever I entered the hotel or came down on the elevator. The free breakfast has a better selection than I'd expected; there was fruit/bagels/cereal/etc. but also waffles you make to order and Jimmy Dean frozen sandwiches to heat up. The breakfast ladies were among the most pleasant I'd ever encountered.

We didn't eat in the hotel for dinner, or in neighborhood restaurants, but there are plenty to choose from. There's also a CVS nearby, in case you forget anything.

I'd have no problems recommending this hotel to others. It didn't look like they have a pool, though (unless I missed something) so families with children might want to think twice.
