We visited the P&P 24 Jan - 8 feb. We have been to many places around the globe but this has to be the most relaxing layed back hotel we have been to.
If you are flying with Thompson/first choice you are checked in on the coach when you arrive in Cuba...this was a fantastic idea as after a long flight you don.t want to be held up in a long line at reception...you are given your wrist band room card towel card & reservations for a le carte's all on the coach.
On arrival you are greeted with a glass of champagne ... nice touch but fruit juice would have been nice for those who don,t drink or for those with children.
A train then took us to our room the driver then opened our rooms & showed us the air con & lights.
We requested a room on the top floor ..which we had, & never had a form of creepy crawly in the whole 2 weeks we were there! But we always take one of these bug plug ins everywhere we go. We was in block 61 & thought it was a spot on central to every thing.
The room was huge clean & tidy, we had towels face cloths & shampoo's shower gel replaced daily if you required it ,something we have not come across before, a free safe ( normally had to pay for the safe ) & fridge restocked daily every day at 5pm with water soft drinks & beer
Cons;
the bathroom could have done with a extractor as it got steamed up very quickly.
This complex is vast !! there is little gulf buggies that drive around ...just put your hand out & they will stop & take you where you want to go. I never heard of anyone one getting knocked over by one when we we were there as had been reported on here recently.

when your new ...in the evening it's very difficult to see where you are going as the paths are ill lit...advice you to bring a torch.
Bearing in mind i am a chef manager.... I thought the food was of a good standard & a huge amount of choice ...something for even the picky eaters. The crepes were to die for ....& I have never seen lobsters king prawns & steaks on a regular buffet menu....EVER...normally these are extra's that you pay for!!
The romantica a le carte was amazing !!!! We were here for our wedding anniversary & they really pushed the boat out for us ..even including a cake & champagne.
We used the buffet & the pizza place on the beach thought they were very good, also the fish & chips take away by the pool was great as well
The free ice cream parlour was a daily visit coming off the beach...lovely !!
Con's;
I never saw one member of female staff who worked in the buffets on the beach wash their hands after using the toilets !!!
Some times there was long queues to get into the buffets morning & evenings if you went at peak time's
We are not pool people ...but it looked huge & the entertainment could be heard down on the beach... the beach was lovely we always sat on the left hand side of the beach which was quieter but a bit stoney & you defo need water shoes, the right hand side of the beach was longer for a nice walk all the water sports were available here, but this side of the beach looked a bit like Bournemouth on a hot day!
We went off snorkeling walking & lunch & left our things quiet safely.
Huge plus;
It didnt matter what time you went to the beach you could always get a sun bed everyday you picked a spot & the guys would bring you one over whether you tipped them or not!
We never saw any broken sun beds at all...as reported on here recently.
we loved the shack/shops down by the beach no pressure to ...lovely
Con's;
The Italians on the beach are LOUD LOUD LOUD.......
The lobby bar was everyone gathered in the evening the coffee was die to for & was opened 24hrs there was often some one playing the piano or singing was a nice touch.
Con's;
It could be a bit thick with cigar smoke..
dont sit under the rafter's as you could get a present dropped on you.from the birds nesting up there
The evening entertainment started at 9.30pm & totally out blasted the lobby area.....TO LOUD .....we could not hear our selfs talk most nights.
As this is not our first trip to Cuba ...having been to cayo coco. we have already done all the Big trips
....We done the ocean paradise ...which was a great day out...be very careful when the deck gets wet its very dangerous to move about...a young guy slipped & broke 2 ribs & some one fell down the toilet steps!!! The tour rep Joe was very informative
We also done the Island paradise which was well worth the money ...fantastic day..but the boat was a lot smaller ...so you can get very wet !!! The tour rep was Ernest very funny...but did tend to push his opinion's of Cuba's communist ruling down your throat...
We had a great weather one overcast day which rained that evening no problem using the umbrella provided ...nice touch.
All the toilets in all areas beach included were kept very clean infact there was a cleaner always in the toilets areas.
.
All the staff were polite at all times whether you tipped them or not & we were never made to think they were waiting to be tipped either but were very pleased when they were tipped.
Yes there was working girls here ...unlike the impression we were given from previous reports they didnt roam the hotel....but were invited guests for a week at the hotel all wore wrist bands. we had two in our block !! yes they are very young & yes there male friends were very old.
Although we have never visited the same complex twice with the attitude that there are so many other places to see .....the P&P has made us think relaxing paradise lovely people ....again yes please!!!!
