We (2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 8) arrived at the Brisas for two nights after a brief stay at the Playa Giron, Bay of Pigs - anything would be an improvement after that - but we were very pleased with the Brisas.

We had to have two rooms as they had no inter-connecting or family rooms (usual with Cuba). They were a good size with a balcony. There was a safe at $2 per night, a hair dryer and some toiletries but you would probaby want to bring your own.

We liked the food and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was nice to have wine on offer after the beer and strange cocktails on offer at the Giron. The kids loved the slushies from the snack bar. The pool and beach were excellent . There was a tiny children's playground and the kids enjoyed playing in the gardens whilst we sat enjoying the warm evening.

It was 8km out of Trinidad (a World Heritage site). A taxi costs 8 cuc each way. You can catch the return taxi from the square. The Bandit Museum (Museo de la Lucha Contra Bandidos) is interesting. It's worth climbing up for the view from the tower over the town (though kids can't go to the top). We ate in Corona - one of the houses that are licensed to serve tourists. The meal was 15 cuc wich included prawns, fruit, salad and rice.

We stayed here for 1 night as part of the 'Highlights of Cuba' tour. We were initially surpised and delighted that the hotel was all inclusive as nobody in our group had expected that. After a hot day sight-seeing we quickly changed and went down to the sea for a swim and the beach was delightful. We were given a ticket to obtain a pool towel but we didn't have to leave a deposit. The pool area was also very good and it was nice to indulge in the cocktails. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel was perfectly acceptable for a couple of nights. However our biggest complaint was the food. I know you don't go to Cuba for fine dinning and as a family we are generally easy to please and rarely complain (see other reviews including Tryp Havana, Hotel Jagua, Iberostar Varadero, Rancho Hatuey) We had already spent almost a week in Cuba eating simple but well cooked and well presented food in a variety of places which we had all enjoyed but for the evening buffet we all walked around with our empty plates desperately looking for something that we might enjoy, even the salad was unappealing. In the end we tried a few dishes but couldn't eat them. It may well have been that on that particular day we weren't hungry otherwise no doubt we would have eaten something. Other members of our group tried various dishes then settled for toast. Breakfast was OK but again we stuck to bread. So despite all the good aspects about the hotel I wouldn't recommend it simply because of the food.

This was overall an enjoyable place. We stayed here for three nights. On first impressions the staff gave no welcome, no hello, nothing. Our safe did not work on arrival, it needed batteries, the staff left to get some and never came back. After four attempts at trying to make them aware of this both over the phone and in person, we had no success of getting anyone to retreive batteries.
The room was fine, spacious and nice view of the ocean. The pool was lovely, there were always loungers and many to chose from. Pool appeared clean and looked after. The buffet restaurant was the most enjoyabe food we ate during our 10 day trip around the island. We were able to get a booking in the al la cate restaurant which was pretty good by Cuban standards.
We went on the Jeep Safari from here, i recommend this as you get to see alot of the countryside and rain forest.
I would recommend this hotel, the staff unfortunately made the stay less special. I had a back massage here, It was really enjoyable and relaxing.
I also had my nails done here. i would not advise this, as they use a mix with the nail varnish to make the bottle last longer, after they had dried the varnish began to melt in the heat. They do not have any manicaure tools to carry out tools which left the women to use their imagination! It wasnt totally pleasant, but they did work well with what they had and appreciated the money.
Entertainment at night was good. Loved the suspended wicker chairs to swing and chat into the late evening.
The hotel is 10 minutes taxi journey outside of Trinidad

Good service from all staff. Definately value for money and very convenient to go up toTrinidad where we went to have our dinner. The beach was the best, only 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Friendly locals on the beach that gave us recommandations on what to see in the area. Lobster is highly recommended! Paid 15CUC for a meal at the hotel (had to make reservation for A la carte restaurant that unfortunately happened to be in the same area as the buffet restaurant) and 10CUC in local restaurant, both extremely good!

At first sight it seems a nice hotel with great outside spaces and lots of things to do. It is much like that, it's colonial architecture, the colors and decoration are very appealing. In front of the hotel there is one of the most amazing carribean beaches i've seen with warm water and palm trees. but as you go inside the rooms things change. there is a weird bad smell and they are not perfectly clean. our bathroom was in a bad condition, the clorine-tissues and the toilet seat covers that we always carry with us when we travel proved very useful here. i'm not talking about the weird brown-grey color of the shower. we were using plastic sandals to step into it. in the same condition were all the rooms given to our group. about the dining area, the food was sufficient and it tasted ok, not excellent but not terrible either. what we didn't particularly like were the coctails of the bar, the mojito was something like a mojito and so on. Oh, and while all hotels give you a beach towel and they only write your room number, if you need a beach towel here you need to give 15 cuc / person as a deposit and take them back when you return the towel and if you need a fridge in the room -something standard in most decent hotels- you have to pay 5 cuc / day and 2 cuc / day for using the safebox. Come on!!!
