We (2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 8) arrived at the Brisas for two nights after a brief stay at the Playa Giron, Bay of Pigs - anything would be an improvement after that - but we were very pleased with the Brisas.
We had to have two rooms as they had no inter-connecting or family rooms (usual with Cuba). They were a good size with a balcony. There was a safe at $2 per night, a hair dryer and some toiletries but you would probaby want to bring your own.
We liked the food and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was nice to have wine on offer after the beer and strange cocktails on offer at the Giron. The kids loved the slushies from the snack bar. The pool and beach were excellent . There was a tiny children's playground and the kids enjoyed playing in the gardens whilst we sat enjoying the warm evening.
It was 8km out of Trinidad (a World Heritage site). A taxi costs 8 cuc each way. You can catch the return taxi from the square. The Bandit Museum (Museo de la Lucha Contra Bandidos) is interesting. It's worth climbing up for the view from the tower over the town (though kids can't go to the top). We ate in Corona - one of the houses that are licensed to serve tourists. The meal was 15 cuc wich included prawns, fruit, salad and rice.
