We arrived here from a terrible hotel in Santa Clara, so it felt like Christmas. Really lovely - great food (they charge for the beer and wine, but it is cheap and who cares?) - our room was in a nice location by the pool. Some of the little cabins seemed a bit stuck in the middle of nowhere - I would request a poolside room if I were to go again. Really big room and v clean. Friendly staff - poolside bar and good bank all on hand. The outside terrace by the restaurant is perfect for viewing the sunset - a great moment on the holiday. Great - can't fault it!

You go to Trinidad for its antiquity and charm in music art and culture;but a good inexpensive place to stay is hotel las cuevas, nestled in the mountains, one can get a panoramic view of the sea a mere 15 min drive beyond. The hotel has bungalows which are clean and comfortable, as well as standard rooms, surrounding the pool area. No internet and as usual food is a challenge in Cuba.

Set on a hill overlooking Trinidad. The site is rather spread out. Rooms are quite decent. Typically Cuban, the food is basic at best.The bars are very good. he pool is the real highlight.

Stayed for 3 nights as part of a tour of Cuba as a group of 7. We took the rooms closest to the pool and discovered them to be dark and dingy, with the awful low energy bulbs, my room M6 had exposed wiring, noisy and inefficient aircon, dirty and damp shower, lack of useful furniture in room. Friend's room had a visitor scorpion by her bed, sheets were dirty etc. The pool was uncleaned when we arrived with tons of debris and deaf bugs. The food was poor. Seems like the staff weren't interested in serving or making any positive impression on anyone.

The best points were : Chiki the pool area lifeguard, barman, entrepreneur who sold us some cheap cigars and was most helpful in his assistance. The location has spectacular views of the old city.

Not really recommended unless a pool is sought. Try some of the several homestays or hotels in the old town for a more authentic stay.
