After staying in the Plaza in Havana, this hotel was luxury !
Still very basic, more like Youth Hostel cabins but there was a nice bar and restaurant where the breakfast wasnt too bad,
There is an exchange by the pool that is open till six so that you can exchange sterling to CUC's which was really useful.
The accommodation was basic and the air con noisy but the location was lovely. I loved the pool and pool bar / snack bar and it was really nice to be able to sit by the pool with a Mojito and watch the sun go down at the end of the day. Amazing views.
Hint - don't switch your light on on your room until you have gone in and closed the door otherwise your room will be full of flying beetles.
Second night my bathroom played host to a lovely little green frog who was very pleased to be released back in to the wild.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of Trinidad, and the walk is up a steep hill that could be very tiring during the day and was quite exhausting after a night of Salsa dancing in the Plaza Major. Maybe the Hotel should invest in a few Coco Taxis reserved for the residents.
There is also a night club in the hotel grounds which is set in a cave, I didnt get there myself but some of my fellow travellers said it was pretty good but also quite a walk from the accommodation - which could be an advantage if you want a peaceful night.
I would have like to stay here longer.
