“Wonderful, relaxing family time”

Thank you so much to Trevor and Jann for hosting us at Te Mahia Bay Resort for 4 nights in Jan 2012. We stayed in a delightful upstairs heritage unit. The bedrooms were large and comfortable with cute homely touches. The kitchenette was well equipped with everything we needed and more. The bathroom was quirky and more than adequate (although the shower box was a tad snug - probably says more about me than about the shower box : )
We thoroughly enjoyed the beach, swimming, jumping off the wharf, fishing, walking on the QCT, kayaking and generally relaxing. Te Mahia Bay is a delightful gem which we would not hesitate to recommend or return to.

“Fantastic Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We stayed here for 5 nights during a family trip to the South Island, we were a party of 11 with a mixture of adults & children. We had a very comfortable unit with all the facilities we needed and it offered us the oportunity to spend lots of quality time all together in the most beautiful setting. We were welcomed most warmly by the owners Jan & Trevor and they made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The children loved the onsite shop and were regular visiters to go and grab an icecream it also came in very handy for adults wanting to indulge in a lovely coffee and a piece of yummy cake. Can not recommend highly enough.

“Stunning scenery, HUGE rooms and great owners”

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at Te mahia Bay resort for just the one night and it was fantastic. We stayed in one of the motel units which was absolutely HUGE and had a double bed, 2 singles, 2 sofas, an en-suite bathroom, a TV and a kitchen (hob not oven). The kitchen is a definate bonus as there is no restaurant on-site, although it is possible to order a pizza from them or a frozen gourmet meal. On top of this, the view from our room was fantastic looking directly and unobstructed out into the bay.
Even though there is a road nearby you never hear any cars and the area is just stunningly peaceful.
We arrived by foot along the Queen Charlotte Track and once you leave the track it is only around 20minutes along the road to get to the resort.
If you have time and a bit of energy you can walk the steep, but not overly difficult walk upto the Onahua Lookout point which gives you a 360 view of the surrouding sounds which is great for photos.

Another highlight of the place is how nice the owners are. We had heard a lot about them before we arrived and only got to meet Jann but she was lovely and well up for a chat.

“It's Paradise!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011

My partner and I stayed at Te Mahia bay for 2 nights and wished we had enough time to stay for longer (unfortunately it was time to come home). The staff there were amazing, friendly and helpful. We were well informed on where the best walks were, hill top walk has the most amazing views. They picked us up from our water taxi drop off and dropped us right outside the door of our apartment. The apartment itself was very spacious and had everything we needed, as well as some of the best views I've ever seen!! Their shop is well equipped and had everything you'd want for a good bbq. We rented 2 Kayaks and went out on the bay in them, which was brilliant!!

“super-helpful management”

The units were very spacious and very well equipped, but the outstanding attraction is the staff, who could not have been more helpful. They not only brought delicious food to our room, but supplied excellent wine from their private cellar at cheap prices. They also arranged for a massage by a skilled massage therapist, which was wonderful to experience after a long day walking along the Queen Charlotte Track.
