Really regretted staying at Painted Fish. Nearly ruined my holidays! I should have read the postings here instead of trusting the blogs on its own website. On hindsight, common sense would have tell me that only good things are being presented on it's own website.
Full of cobwebs and the place looks so run down that it sends shivers down my spine the moment I stepped in!
There is a strong musky smell as if the rooms have not been aired properly and the kitchen is in such a terrible state that I thought I could smell the gas leaking.
The toilet is de-tached from the living quarters. I didn't even dare to drink water after dark for fear of visiting the loo in the middle of the night.

This place is a total disgrace to Fremantle.

Really enjoyed staying here. Stayed in the cottage and the bed was really comfortable. Loved the solar pagola. Were able to use the hosts' bikes to get into Fremantle but a bit far to walk. Maybe would have liked simple breakfast provisions forte price?

We stayed in the studio for 4 nights (note, the other two accommodations are different).

This place is very different. You'll love it if you like to live al fresco, get close to nature and/or have kids in the 5-12 age range.

On the other hand, it has some downsides. The mezzanine bedroom is up a narrow circular staircase and if you're average height or over you might well bump your head at the top. And the bath/toilet facilities are all in the bathhouse which is a couple of yards away outside and with a door that doesn't quite close. So if, like I did, you have to get up to visit the toilet in the night, it's a bit of an obstacle course.

The bed is comfortable, kitchen quite well equipped (though without a functioning teapot, strange as there are lots of ornamental ones). Shower powerful though a bit temperamental. Good free wifi connection.

The location is excellent, close to some quite decent eateries and good public transport, the beach only a short walk away. And staying in Freo rather than Perth was a good decision.

My daughter (16) and I stayed in the studio last weekend and we just loved it! We came from Geraldton and theres always so much to fit into such a short time. It was wonderful to come back to the studio and relax. Wish we had more time to spend there during the day. All week I have been thinking back to our stay and the beautiful little piece of the world the owners have created. The towering vegie patch encouraged by sunlight from reflective panels, the groovy gate, the tranquil ponds crossed by a little wooden bridge, then you see the snapshot from the website.......that wall of glass doors and those fantastic red couches!!!! Yes, we are really here! It's gorgeous! The bed is like a cloud , I have never slept on anything so comfy and oh those sheets! Pure cotton and absolute luxury. I loved the separate bathroom that you could swing the doors open while showering and thanks to the ancient pepper tree and a very strategic placement of garden offers complete privacy. I even got brave and had a shower in the garden (a copper pipe piece of artwork in itself). To really be honest I got more out of this than accommodation. I had a wonderful TV free weekend with my daughter, we saw the real Freo (south Freo is my new favourite) and I have been truly inspired and reminded of what is important. I will be putting my vegies in soon and I feel reconnected with a lifestyle that I want for my family. I am just an ordinary middle aged Mum i dont wear cheesecloth and I like my comforts but I have been shown that a blend is not only possible but a great option. I could easily live on that lovely street with all its charm. Neighbours chatting, kids on their verandahs, lemon trees on the verge. Thanks to The Painted Fish for a truly wonderful experience.
