We stayed a week at the Hotel Oberland over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners (Ursula (Lauterbrunnen local) and Mark (formerly from Australia) were very friendly and welcoming as was their staff.

The Hotel is centrally located in this small Swiss Alpine village ... about 5 minutes walk from the Railway Station.

Rooms are basic but comfortable. Heating was excellent which is needed in a Swiss winter!

As we were there as part of a holiday package meals were set .... good food though not particularly exciting menu.

Hotel Oberland in Lauterbrunnen is a terrific guest house type hotel. The owners (Mark and Ursula) are very gracious and friendly. They also run a restaurant on the ground floor that has marvelous food (try the cheese fondue or any entree that has spatzle)!

There is free breakfast AND free parking!

If you aren't fluent in German, no worries since the owners and staff speak English (Mark is a native Aussie), French and a few other languages.

We were very happy with our stay at the Hotel Oberland. Lauterbrunnen is a convenient home base when you want to visit the different villages in the area and Hotel Oberland is very close to the train station, making travel a breeze. This hotel provided a good breakfast and has a restaurant featuring some traditional swiss dishes, which we enjoyed. Book a room with a balcony, it is totally worth it for the view. A quiet, well run hotel.

Thank you forum members of TA for recommending Hotel O to us. Have never been to Switzerland so decided to simply follow what was recommended on TA which was to head for the mountains. So, here we are with snow in the background as I write this. Again another PERFECT accomodation, more than what I imagined the place to be. Edelweiss apartment is extremely clean, new and the warm welcome from Mark the owner made us feel at home immediately upon arrival in the dark, after 4 changes of train from Paris at 11am. Now to have snow when our family at home in Perth in experiencing 37 degrees C...again I can only give thanks to God and gaze in awe at His creation.Thanks again to all who helped me make this decision.
