We stayed here for a week in July 2010 in an owners direct apartment.
We arrived late and the receptionist had waited for us and was lovely given the time of day. The restaurant owner cooked us dinner despite it being nearly midnight so we cant complain. We did eat in the restaurant on anither occasion during our stay but be warned the food is not great and the drinks are expensive.
The gardens are well kept and the pool areas are clean and neat with good facilities.
The apartment was a little dated and despite air con in the lounge one of the bedrooms was just too hot to sleep in, it really needs another unit fitting.
Tavira is a 15 minute walk away and the nearest supermarket is five minutes walk or shorter in the car. Forget the busy road it really isnt that busy !! its just a main road typical of what you would encounter anywhere so is not a problem. There are lots of places to eat in Tavira of very poor quality, there are some which are much better. Brica in one of the backstreets is excellent typical Portuguese and reasonable prices too, the locals eat there so say no more !! There are some more modern eateries in the shopping mall a short stroll from the apartments if you have fussy teenagers with you like we did !! There is Chinese, Pizza, Mexican, Burger and Chicken joints so something for everyone.
Tavira itself is lovely, very picturesque apart form the new bridge which is a blot on the landscape !
Overall the apartments are not in a ideal location but if you dont mind a walk they are fine. The one we stayed in could do with a little updating but was comfortable nonetheless.
