“Really enjoyed it. great appartment and great complex”
Just back from 10 days in an Owners Direct 2 bed appt. We were ground floor of block 9 to the rear of the main pool. A nice private balcony overlooking the kids play area and a slightly smelly stream- but wouldnt put us off renting this appt again. We could wave to our friends in a villa across the road. Close to the bar and restaurant but not noisy except on Friday night. the main road was nowhere near our end of the complex.
The pool area was claen and spacious with grass(mozzies-beware,we were quite badly bitten) and concrete sunbed areas. Could have done with a sunbed cushion though- a bit hard to lie on!
The complex itself was quiet and the grounds were green and lush with the grass being mown or hedges trimmed everyday. The kids play area was well kept. Didint use tennis courts or gym but others did. Wifi was useful.
Didnt eat in the evening at the restaurant but had a nice lunch with friendly staff. the barbecue on Friday night was well attended and fun karaoke after, til about 12.30am- noisy if you have an appmnt near with small kids trying to sleep. We were a group of 10 including teens so it didnt bother us and they loved the pool table and table football.
Tavira itself was lovely. We only managed to walk in to town once-a good 20 mins and a bit scary along the N125 for about 200yds.The rest of the time we lazily drove and parked near the river.
The ferry from the town to the Ilha Tavira beach was infrequent and packed. We couldnt get on the first and didnt want to wait an hour for the next. The ferry closer to the beach was more frequent but parking was so bad that we turned round and went off to Cabanas beach by car instead. All the beaches are very similar being long stretches of sand - no rocks or cliffs. We also did Barril beach on the train, Fabrica beach across some very squelchy mudflat-kids loved it, Manta Rota beach-easier parking and no ferry, and Monte Gordo-again no ferry and easier parking. All were packed. We did get to Ilha Tavira beach on one day and the kids loved the banana boat. there was also pedaloes and donuts. But Manta Rota beach is the one we kept going back to-partly as the waves were fantastic for 3 days-unusual I believe for this time of year-if only we'd taken the bodyboards!
Restaurants were mostly good but you have to book if you are as big a party as we were. the one attached to the Irish Bar -the black anchor ,was child friendly with good service. We also did Aquasul which had less friendly staff, good food and was expensive.
Bica was great friends told us.
All in all a fab holiday to a greeat complex in a nice unspoilt part of Portugal(English not necessarily spoken) which we will come back to...
