“Two summers here and i'd definitely go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have spent the last 2 summers here with my family. We booked it after a recommendation from a friend who has been here half a dozen times and loved it - definitely good enough for us!
This is a sprawling property with beautiful private villas. Its like a whole little village iitself. The villas have their own surrounding garden and are private and peaceful. Many are privately owned, and are rented by the owner or rented by the hotel. Everyone minds their own business and the whole atmosphere is civilised and homely. There's a lovely pool, shops and mini mart on site and then the bigger shops and restaurants are just outside the gates.
The town of Cabanas is small but full of all you need.
The beach takes getting used to, but has its own novelty factor too! The hotel provides a little train service that runs continuously up and down to the promenade. A bumpy ride but fun for the kids. You then board a little speedboat over the 200m or so to the beach. The beach is lovely, but has little or no shelter out of the sun. The loungers are expensive too. Given the trek to get to the beach, its probably worth bearing in mind that you can't just nip back too easily! Something to bear in mind if you have young children too.
This area is not for lively young-makers holiday. The bars are quaint and traditional rather than touristy. The restaurants serve excellent food though and lovers of seafood - you're in for a treat here!
The hotel organised bike rentals for us and i would highly recommend it as the neighbouring towns are beautiful. Lovely lush scenery for such a hot country!
The local town of Tavira is absolutely lovely. We went many times and i would recommend you get the speedboat over at least once as its a stunning trip. The town has dozens of shops, restaurants and sights to see. The outdoor music in the square is great. The little ones will enjoy the novelty train that runs around the whole town - approx 30 mins. Its a great way to see the town!

Room Tip: The sprawling 'village' layout is daunting, but ask for a villa close to the front of the co...

“Laid-back, old-fashioned holiday village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Very laid-back, quite old-fashioned holiday village. Accommodation basic but clean, lovely outside are in the two-bed villas including fantastic roof terrace. Wouldn't like to be near pool, usually fairly poor entertainment on until 11/12ish at night. Location good, stroll or land train down to ferry to beach. Staff mostly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was poor, next time would save money and get breakfast ingredients from well-stocked on-site supermarket. Beds a bit on the hard side and small singles only.

“Just Great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

Very clean if a little basic/rustic accommodation set in magnificent grounds. This complex offers great value for money (haggle with them for a deal!!)

The complex is quite large but with lots of green open space and fabulous trees and plants, which make it seem tranquil. Maid service was very good and the towels & bed linen changed twice during our weeks self catering stay. Loads of hot water and ample facilities to ensure you enjoy your stay.

However, I would imagine in the height of the season the pool and public areas maybe too small to cope comfortably with the number of apartments/villas on the site. But in mid September it was nice and quiet.

The resort is very very quiet - just what we wanted - but it would not appeal if you are looking for a lively bar/disco type of place. Highlight of the evenings is dinner and a night cap at one of the 3 or 4 bars - perfect.

Room Tip: Always ask about special price offers

“Brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Just back from a 10 day holiday at Pedras De Rainha in Cabanas. The studio apartment we had would have actually slept 6 as there were three beds on the ground floor and three low beds up on a mezzanine floor. Place was spotless and cleaners were in 5 days out of 7. Loads of plates, pots, cutlery, etc, a fridge/freezer; cooker, the works. Hot water was always available via a gas boiler. Honestly we were stunned at what was provided for the very very low price we paid. The holiday village was all spotless and everyone was helpful and friendly.

Would definitely recommend Pedras de Rainha and Cabanas de Tavira as a brilliant place for a relaxing holiday. Also, the boat is free over the beach when you show the card reception give you when you arrive and it is a beautiful beach. (Noticed someone commented about the cost of the boat so maybe this is a new thing.)

“Awesome”

I only knew "Pedras del Rei", about 10km from this one, and i really found what i expected from his "sister": a big, nice pool, a beautiful garden, the grass always clean and cut. Also the tennis and padel courts were clean and usable.
It was great to have breakfast at the balcony in the morning.
The furniture wasn´t much but the essential for vacations, it had satellite TV and air conditioning, although we never used them, cause you have so much to do and see outside, the tours, the beaches, Tavira, and so on...
The staff was so helpful when we needed to print some documents, also giving us promotion prices for the summer and helping with the Buggy rental.

Room Tip: Ask to stay near the swimming pool
