“Christmas time in Riga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

The staff is super friendly. Nothing was too much and made the stay very enjoyable. The best hotel I have been in for a long time. Clearly the friendly staff made all the difference! Also wish to recommend Alibi restaurant near the hotel where we tasted superb grill and wine. I and my wife ordered grilled pike-perch fillet. Perfect taste and interesting to see the cooking process.

“A little piece of luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We stayed at Hotel Garden Palace for 3 nights at the beginning of December. The staff were very welcoming and also very helpful. Our room was beautiful, very cosy and very clean with a four poster bed and beautiful big armchairs to rest in after a day of shopping and sightseeing. Breakfast was really lovely with plenty of choices. My only one concern and this is purely personal was that there was no tea and coffee making facilities in our room but when we asked at reception we were furnished with a kettle and tea tray so well done to them! PS The cocktail bar was a little peice of heaven whether it was after a day out, before dinner cocktails or nightcap and the pina colada was by far the best i've tasted!!!!!!!!!

“fantastic location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

Fantastic location! Right the the very centre of Riga old town.
Breakfast was great, with a very wide choice of dishes. I would love to come back to this hotel! The room was not very large, but really cozy.

“ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Expecting more, but not bad. Some mess up with the reservation, where I originally thought it might be my fault. They claimed upon our arrival that the reservation was canceled. So I thought I might have made a mistake when I had to rebook. But as it turns out, I had not. So I ended up paying twice for the Junior suit. I am hoping they will correct their mistake. Nice room, but the bathroom is not impressive, very cold floor. And if you want to take a shower, you have to hold the showerhead, since the cord is to short, so it will not reach the fitting on the wall. Breakfast is just average, in my opinion, a bit lower.

“Great Location at good price”

I booked this hotel on Laterooms.com and got a very good price for 2 nights - I asked for a room with a balcony not expecting it but when we arrived were given one of the top floor rooms. The room we were in (514) was spacious and had 2 single beds together with a mattress topper to make it into 1 big bed, in fact seemed bigger than my king size at home. The balconly was nice with rooftop views of St Peters and the old town of Riga. Would be nice in the summer with a glass of wine and a good book :-) The breakfast was adequate with plenty of choice, lovely hot brewed coffee on tap and hot and cold choices and the manager even leaves you a tip in the room to get there early or you may need to wait. There was a mini bar with lots of choice at very reasonable prices only thing missing was coffee and tea making facilities. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and accomodating and the hotel bar was nice to sit in and relax after a cold day out in the wind, the coffee was excellent - the fact that they also did a cocktail happy hour was a definite bonus. It was again though as we found all over Riga very quiet. The number 22 bus drops you virtually round the corner and again going back to the airport just round the corner. We didnt eat in the restaurant but it looked very nice and seemed reasonably priced.
Would recommend this hotel and if you get it at a discounted price even better.

coffee and tea

Room Tip: The balcony was a nice added extra even though for the time of year couldn't use it to it's...
