Monte Kristo is stylish hotel with very good service and value for money for a central Riga hotel. Nice breakfist. Warmly recommend this hotel. Also recommend to visit family restaurant Alibi which is located near the hotel. Delicious grill in Latvian traditional style. Lovely place. Lovely service. Owner Dace and Raivis are very nice and helpful couple.

Just across the road from the Bus Station and on the edge of the Old Town this was ideal for a few days in Riga. Breakfast was good and rooms clean and of good size, add friendly staff. For the price and location certainly a winner.

Excellent hotel with full equipped rooms, old style furniture and very good breakfast, the best I've had. The location is also very good - it's close to railway and bus station also as old city with main sight seeings.

The hotel does not look too promising from the outside as it is on a delapidated cobbled street (however you will see that a lot of the old town streets are dilapidated cobbled streets!). However the hotel creates a welcoming environment and this is eched by the staff all of whom we dealt with speak english.
The hotel has 39 rooms or so ....ours was a small double but was clean and well appointed including tea and coffe mini bar TV and curiously a CD player. The bathroom was very clean and had a corner bath with integral shower which packed a punch in the morning! Water was hot every time we used it. The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were supplied whether you asked for them or not.
There is no dining room as far as we could see as there are many good and reasonably priced restaurants very nearby. Breakfast is served in a basement accessed by some 6 steps. Itwas quite highly prized by the hotel and features in theor literature.....it is a basement! Breakfast is an experience...not necessarily a bad one either. You are greeted in a brusque manner with "room number tea coffee! " no other words pass between us! The food is tasty but unusual. It is a filling meal if you experiment with the sausage, banana pancakes and the cheese and salami toasties.
It is cheap and cheerful,comfortable and handy for the airport bus and the old town.
