Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights midweek. The hotel is very clean and functional (bit like a travel lodge). Breakfast is in the Bowling Centre Restaurant - very continental - cold meat, cheese, yogurt and bread (which could be toasted) and the staff were very nice with a good command of English.
The hotel is a bit out the way but transport was easy - tram (30 pence per journey regardless of length). £5 for taxi. Tram took about 15 minutes.

We just came back from Riga and enjoyed our stay in this hotel very much! I was really surprised by the cleanliness of the rooms even though I had read positive comments about it. The hotel staff was also very friendly!

We didn't have any problems with the location since we took a tram downtown and found it very convenient let alone CHEAP (20 santims, which is less than 30 cents). The hotel staff helped us to find the tram.

Breakfast was the only thing which I wouldn't rate very high: there wasn't much variety (we stayed for 4 nights), bread was a bit dry and fresh fruit was served only once. But it was enough to fill the stomach, though.

We stayed at the Toss Hotel from 7 to 9 October 2006. The hotel itself is lovely, everything seems to be new and they have the most comfortable beds, pillows and duvets I have ever slept in at a hotel. Breakfast was cheese, ham, gerkins, and either a boiled or fried egg. The hotel was down the back of a load of buildings, I was so convinced that we weren't at the right hotel (the hotel name is not immediately above the entrance way, it is another name), I refused to get out of the car until my husband went in and confirmed that this was in actual fact the Toss Hotel. The only downside to our stay here was the convenience to the town centre. We spent from between 7 to 12 lats per journey into the town centre. Very expensive for a 10 minute taxi ride, we must have spent at least 60 lats (which is very close to 60 GBP) for just three days on taxi journeys to and from the Town Centre. When you get into the cab, ask them if they go by the meter, and check that the meter is on and working before you get in. Otherwise they will just pull a figure out of the air. We got caught out a couple of times by this. The area is nice and quiet, but not really within walking distance of town, it would be a good couple of hours and not the nicest walk along the motorway.

Anyway, 7 lads were going there for someone’s 21st birthday, so we booked in to Toss Hotel.

After a 10 min taxi ride from airport, we arrived at the hotel (which the area looks a bit rough, but as soon as your in the complex, everything is modernised and feels very safe)

The hotel is very modern and clean, much greater than what any of us had expected.

The bathroom and showers are exceptional, although you may have a leaky shower, which is down to the fact that it is so new, and not everything has been “road tested” yet.

We were simply staying in the hotel for a booze up, but this is quite clearly aimed at the business traveller market.

As mentioned earlier, it is right out of the way, in the sense that it is NOT within walking distance of the old town, however the receptionists will be happy to book you a taxi to the centre, which will set you back around 7 Lats.
