“Not very central”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2007

Stayed at Hotel Enkurs for 2 nights in June, 2007. The hotel is about 2 km from the Old town of Riga on a busy Caka street, so it's not very central. Trolleybuses no. 18 and 23 stop near the hotel and they go to the central station, so the location is not a problem, though. Tickets for the trolleybus cost 0,30 Lt.

I had booked a small double room, but was surprised to see how small the room really was. We could bearly fit in with all our luggage. The bathroom, however, was quite spacious when compared to the size of the room itself. It was clean and tidy, but the towels weren't spotlessly clean. There was a TV and a minibar in the room, no air-conditioning, so it got quite hot during the night, although the weather wasn't too hot at the time of our stay (in fact it was raining a lot when we arrived).

The staff was helpful, although some of them didn't speak English very well. The breakfast was good with omelette, pancakes, bread, cheeses and juice/tea/coffee.

“Mediocre”

Stayed for a few days city break. In my opinion it is not city centre! Rooms are small and cramped. Arrival to check in was a little frosty. Claiming I did not advise two people were staying in the room, when it was clearly printed on the booking! Was clean and breakfast staff were very nice.

Could probably find better value. From what I remember it wasn't too damaging on the wallet.

“Beware of room 22”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2007

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel five
nights the first week of May. I had booked
a superior twin room, but we were placed
in a cramped room on second floor. I think
this was a single room with a double bed
which took most of the floor space. After
a complaint they gave us a spacious room
on third floor with double windows, which
was what I would expect of a superior room. The room however faced the street and thus a lot of traffic noise, especially if you had a window open. This hotel is supposed to be located in city center, which I think is not quite correct - it takes 20 minutes to walk to downtown. One last thing - they
show free hard core porn on one of the telly channels - might be a problem.

“A nice little hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2006

This is a lovely little hotel located on A. Caka iela (street) which is about a 25-30 minute leisurely stroll from Freedom Monument on Brivibas Bulvaris. The hotel is very small, and the breakfast was a little strange by my Irish standards. We had breakfast the first day, but ate out for breakfast other mornings.
Our room was on the third floor and looked out onto A. Caka iela. There is no air-con so hotel can be a bit warm, however open the window and all is good. The hotel is newly decorated and looks absolutely fantastic (they only took down the scaffolding two days into our 5 day stay). Our room was very clean on arrival and when staff cleaned it was to a very high standard.
I would recommend this hotel to couples who wish to spend more time exploring the City and region over sitting in a hotel lobby for their entire stay.
There is a trolley bus service (0.20Ls) from outside the hotel to the Cental (Train) Station. Just pay the Conductor (they have their own seat on the trolley bus) or the drive, depending.
Hotel definitely worth a stay in and would most likely stay there again.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, location
  • Disliked — The breakfasts, but Riga is cheap for food so no problems there.
  • Tips/Secrets — On first day, walk into City Centre to get a sense of the city

Nice hotel near central and shops. Easy access to local buses.
A Little bit too hot at the middle of the summer, there wasnt ac.
Breakfast room at the 1st floor is a bit small but if take your breakfast between 7-8
you wont have any rush.
Secure car parking at backyard of the hotel.
