“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

Stayed at Man-Tess for three nights in Februay. The hotel is perfectly located to explore Riga on foot. The room we had was very big, with a four post bed and wood pannelling , and even a small balcony. The breakfast was good with a nice selection, the room was kept very clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly.
All in all, I would definately return to this hotel. Absolutely loved it.

“revelry in riga”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

Man Tess is well situated to enjoy the old town area of Riga. staff very friendly and breakfast not bad at all for "continental" fare. Old Town has some excellent bars and restaurants, the best for value and ambience is "The Patio" which has a very comprehensive menu to cover all tastes. Drink prices in pubs can vary, but most are on a drinks menu, so it's up to you to make sure that you pay what you should! A trip to the markets in the old aircraft hangers is a real "local" experience, the variety of meats and fish is quite astounding and you will see the "real" locals here.It also has the cheapest little bars, bar none in the whole of Riga. Although we had been advised by our operator that the Hotel balance would be taken in Euros, in fact they insisted on Lats which was a bit inconvenient having taken Euros for this purpose. All in all Riga is a good destination but is very cold in Feb. Wrap up warm and drink plenty of Vodka!!

“Good value, small hotel in Old Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

Stayed a weekend here in September and was very pleased with the overall package.

Hotel is right in the middle of the old town, and very central to all the attractions.

It's a small, boutique-type hotel, with very spacious old style bedrooms. The bed was a large four poster, bathroom very clean, and came with satellite TV (with an astonishing number of Arabic and Russian channels, if that's you're interest).

Weekend price rates were very good value, and buffet breakfast was served up to a very leisurely 11 am. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

Would definitely stay there again.

“Reasonable value, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

Situated right on the edge of the Old Town, and two blocks from the Opera, Man-Tess is an excellent location for exploring and culture. Though the interior was completely re-done a few years ago, the renovation suffered from doubtful design and occasionally questionable competence. Numerous small problems show accumulating maintenance issues, e.g a loose lock cylinder made our room door hard to open, windows were difficult to open and close, a bathroom fan which made noise but little else left the bathroom smelling perpetually dank. Such small annoyances aside, the room was reasonably spacious, and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was adequate, and the location fairly quiet even though on a busy small street into the Old Town. The Air Baltic shuttle bus from the airport stops a block away-- a real plus.

“Fantastic location & overall great hotel, shame about the water pressure!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

This hotel is only 5mins walk from train station in the old town and 1min walk to the Lativan Opera House. The old town is small enough to walk anywhere from any point.

The breakfast was better than we had expected with lots of fruit to choose from, yoghurt, cold meat, bread, scrambled eggs and sausages etc.

Our room was very spacious, being on the 'corner' of the 4th floor. The only drawback is the lack of water pressure and the hot water took ages to arrive.

room is only being cleaned every 2nd day but that didn't bother us.

With our room being on the 4th floor, the free wifi was very weak. Sort of useable with a laptop but my iphone could not detect any available network at all! But if you're by the reception, the wifi is good.

Riga was very warm when we were there (mid August), the room didn't have air conditioning but the fan provided was adequate and we still slept well.

Overall, hotel is not perfect but the friendly staff and excellent location made this a pleasant stay for us.
