Well located in the old Riga. We had a large, wooden and clean room on the fourt floor (n° 43). Well equiped bathroom with big shower. In the room there's a window facing old buildings but it wasn't possible enjoy the beautiful view because of a kind of fixed net; the only drawback to the hotel if I'd say a little thing not perfect of a beautiful hotel.
Breakfast is ok with eggs, cheese, ham, fresh fruit and a lot of delicious latvian cookies.
Staff very pleasant.

We stayed on the third floor in this hotel and were blown away by the gigantic room size... probably the largest we have stayed in all of Europe... It was a little bit of a hike just to walk from the bed to the bathroom ; >)

The room was clean with beautiful hardwood floors and beautiful stained wood finishings. Our room was right on the street, but noise was never a problem for us. The staff was very helpful and provided friendly assistance to us when we needed it.

The location was great. Right in the center of town. The entrance to the hotel was just across the street from a large shopping mall and grocery store. Located near many of the nice restaurants... a short distance from the opera house... a ten minute walk from the train and bus stations... a ten minute walk from the large flea and food market area.

The breakfast was basic, but had enough variety and enough food to keep us full and happy. And one of the best things about this hotel is that the price is extremely reasonable for the location and amenities.

We highly recommend this place.

We stayed in Hotel Man-Tess while visiting friends/family in May, 2011. The room we had was very large and had a balcony on Wagner Street (Riharda Vāgnera iela). It was clean and comfortable, with good wifi.

The location is fantastic. In the past we stayed at a B&B in Mezaparks, which is a long tram ride from old town. This is so much more convenient. Being on the edge of old town, it is easy to catch the airport shuttle, but it is close to everything I want to visit as a tourist. It could have been more quiet - late night revelers - but that is what you get in old Riga.

Breakfast was generous and very good. breads, cheeses, sausages, scrambled eggs, tomato and cucumber, plus pastries, cereals, juice, tea, and such.

The staff mostly spoke very good English and were friendly. We were very satisfied with the service.

Riga is a beautiful city with great food and amazing architecture. It is easy to walk and trams will get you almost anywhere efficiently. There are loads of food, drink and entertainment options.

Next time we visit, we will stay at Man-Tess again.

The Man-Tess is a small hotel very close to Riga Old Town Centre and a 5 minute walk from the bus stop (Route 22 goes to the airport in about 20 minutes). There are no amenities and only a few bedrooms - apparently all different. I had room 51 which occupies the whole of the top floor. It was absolutely huge with the bedroom separate from the living area, in immaculate condition with excellent lighting and tastefully furnished. Choice at breakfast was limited but well prepared (cold meat, cheese, eggs, yoghurt) but there were no rolls, only sliced bread. The staff all spoke adequate English and were polite, efficient and helpful but not the cheeriest bunch (smiling does not seem to feature high in the list of Latvian characteristics). In summary, I would be surprised if you could get better value anywhere in Riga. If you can do without pool gym and room service stay here - you will be missing out if you don't.
