“Very good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Me and my daughter aged 13 lived here for a couple of days i December 2011. Lived, or slept actually, when we were not shopping or having dinner. This hotel gives you a good night sleep, close to everything, even the street, but not really that annoying. It is old but well kept, and gives a good nostalgic feeling. We live on second floor, our room was beautiful and the bathroom was newly renovated. Breakfast was ok with a choice of selection.

“FINE HOTEL WITH GOOD SERVICE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

I visited with my wife Hotel Metropole in Riga 01.12 - 03.12.2011. If you want some history combined with modern comfort, you will enjoy staying at the oldest hotel in Riga, built in 1871 and completely renovated in 1992 in Scandinavian style decor. The owner of this hotel is Mr Åkesson from Sweden. It is a 4 star hotel located in the very heart of the city, at the edge of the Old Town, close to all cultural attractions and shopping areas. You will be surpriced of the high standard of the hotel. Our room was very comfortable and there was also something very special = trousers press. The bathroom was very fine and great. Our room was a bit noisy of the traffic from the street. If you go there ask for a room on the inside area of the building. The buffet breakfast was good with english breakfast and continental breakfast. The lunch and dinner restaurant, with good service, had a great choise of fine food and wines. The staff was very friendly and hospitality and took good care of us. If you want a comfortable hotel with good athmosfere go to this hotel. We are going back most definately to this nice hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the middle of the building. The rooms close to the street are a bit noisy of the t...

“Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

The hotel is located on the edge of the old town and close to the bus stop for the number 22 bus to the airport. I was given a complimentary drink voucher on checking in.
I had booked a single room which was on the second floor and was facing away from the road so there was no noise from the trams which run in front of the hotel. The bedroom was a good size, very clean and with a large bathroom with shower and plentiful supply of hot water.
I was pleasantly surprised at the choice of foods at breakfast which included fried/scrambled eggs and bacon as well as cold meats etc.
The fried eggs and bacon were however overdone for my liking but all in all a good breakfast.
Drinks in the hotel were expensive compared to the local bars but that is the case in most hotels.
I thought the hotel was good value and away from the noise of the old town.

Room Tip: The room I had at the back was vwery quite.

“No Lift!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

They put us at the 5th floor and there was no lift! They told us that it will be "repaired" next day but I saw the Escape Plan and the lift was beyond a plywood fence! As a review here, the hotel is "smaller". They are splitting the hotel in two! They lied to us.

Hotel was recomended by the information bureau. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The price was reasonable for this type of hotel and at the edge of the old town.
