The convenience of the location and the comfort of the room. the staff were very pleasant. Was simply fabulous to finish our European holiday in this hotel. Cheers! There’s one lovely place near the hotel we liked very much. Family restaurant Alibi. They’ve delicious grilled dishes in Latvian traditional style and romantic atmosphere. Try to visit if you wish to learn what Latvia grill means.
Really good value for money, which is rare these days! Food at the bar/restaurant was delicious. A special mention for the girl behind the bar who was extremely friendly and attentive, aswell as being an excellent tourist guide, I never found out her name!
Only negative was that you had to pay for the sauna/hot tub, and that wasnt hot, when we mentioned it they gave us a 10% discount straight away.
Location was perfect and we left feeling very happy, keep up the good work!
OK - I have to be honest here! This was our 3 nights experience.
With a bit more effort this Hotel could be very good. I would reccomend the Hotel on the basis of location Old Town and Market - points below would benefit from action, they are not big issues but sometimes little details add up to spoil the trip away experience.
1 Breakfast choice limited - no scrambled eggs for example - food was seldom hot. No toaster just a very slow rolling belt; no spoons for eggs (guests all around me had to keep asking for this) - so, no attention to customer detail
2 Hotel Staff need Training in Customer Care and Communications. Nobody asked us as to whether we enjoyed our stay when we left, or welcomed us when we arrived (I had the feeling they didn't care), and the price of a mini bar item mysteriously increased from that listed on checkout.
3 We had an hour loss of power and light one evening - reception response was simply: 'it is not our fault' refused to loan us any lights for the room. So we sat in the dark.
4 Shower cubicle far too small for comfort
5 Rooms had thin walls/floors so could be a problem getting to sleep if next door had conversation or TV on.
6 Room cleaning a bit slack one day, no mini bar snack items replaced for example. But otherwise ok.
Could do better.
Stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of the month to visit the Christmas markets. Hotel still just as good as first visit. Close to Old Town and very close to bus stops for airport connection.
