Hotel is situated in the centre of the Old Town and is in a wonderful location for all the sights, and restaurants. Very well decorated and spotlessly clean. Staff speak good English and are very helpful and knowledgable. Our room overlooked the main street on the first floor. The room was huge (209) with very "quirky" furniture to match the style of the hotel. Bed was comfy but seats in room were a bit upright!! Big bathroom with hairdryer and toiletries. However we did have a problem with noise from a new nightclub that has moved to the area and the boom boom of the music kept us and most guests awake till the early hours. To be fair the hotel management called the police who told them to turn it down and they moved us to a back room for our final night which was peaceful but that was a Sunday night and the nightclub was closed anyway!
Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. There are no tea/coffee faciities in the room but you can go down to the the bar in Reception and order stuff to take back to the room. there is a fridge in the room for cold drinks/snacks.
We did not eat in the hotel as we wanted to explore the city and its restaurants at night in the snow - it looked absolutly beautiful.
The hotel arranged an airport pick up for us (around £13) - worth it as no hassle as they are waiting for you with a name board in the arrivals hall and you arrive in style in the city in a top of the range BMW limo! Email the hotel before you go and they sort it out.
We got a a green Baltic taxi back to the airport which was much the same price. The hotel booked this for us as well.
Riga is lovely and VERY picturesque. It is a city you can walk around and we would definately recommend the free walking tour that starts from outside St Peters church at 12.00pm every day but Sunday. Look for the man with the yellow suitcase(not the yellow umbrella tour as this is the organsied paid tour). Angeles asks for a donation at the end but he is worth every penny that you might like to give him. About 2 hours in total but and easy walk and the time goes very quick.
The hotel Justus is a lovely place, don't let the issue of the noise put you off. We would definately go back but will ask for a room at the back. In all honesty you will not miss much by being in the front as you overlook the hotel opposite
