Visited the hotel during Christmas and New Year. The bathroom renovated and nice, but no bathtub as depicted in the brochures. A nice little spa area, beautifully tiled and pleasant lighting, sauna and small swimming pool. Spa area and be served breakfast table in the room - was the best thing about the hotel.
Location central but 10 minutes away from downtown, high traffic noise from the two sides of the room. View road and the tram! Had booked a deluxe room and got a room that did not live up to the descriptions of extra-large space - large bed, a desk and a TV bench, two simple dining room chairs must be regarded as an ordinary room. In addition, dark colors and with a lot of traffic noise. No coffee maker or music - just local channels in addition to international news on TV
Within 5 days stay, we met only 2 other guests. No sitting at the bar, no one in the dining room - there was no life whatsoever in the hotel. The staff was friendly and said hello - and the only people we saw.
We arrived after midnight, 27, was guided in and explained about breakfast offer and stated that we wanted breakfast served in your room the next day, possible this was not cleared well enougt? - When we called the front desk the next day to ask for breakfast, we had no problem with breakfast - but we were charged full price for this (more than 400 Norwegian crown). Departure day 1 January we had received a letter in the room that breakfast would be served only after 9 o'clock this day. We did not have time to eat breakfast before departure when our plane left early - I asked about that breakfast we had to pay the extra cost, could be offset against your breakfast we missed 1.1 (had prepaid for breakfast every day), this was impossible, even the lady at the reception tried to call a manager to check if it was possible.
So unfortunately - despite friendly staff and nice spa, a hotel that does not live up to its 5 stars. Small and dark rooms, no visible activity or other guests - nice and old, but definitely not a hotel to visit again. The only 5 stars I can hand out, go to the friend I shared the hotel with!
Riga city had much to offer, organ concert in the Riga Dome, jazz, cozy pubs - good food, good drinks and many beautiful buildings in Art Nouveau style
