While not in the immediate centre, the hotel is very convenient for travelling in and out. The tram stop is right outside and the no. 7 takes you to outside the national opera house is just minutes.
The front desk staff could not be more helpful with where to go, how to get around.

Rooms are small with a small bathroom (shower, no bath) but idea for visitors wanting to spend time sightseeing rather than in a luxury hotel.
We didn't have breakfast here as the were so many great places in town to try (try fazenda bazars).

Although there are some buildings which are vacant, which gives the area a run down feel, we always felt safe walking at night and had no problems.

All in all, convenient location, great price, clean rooms. Just what we needed.

The Hotel is in a poor neighbourhood yet its beautiful in its own way as i discovered throughout the trip. Taxis and Trams get in you in the city centre pretty quick but a walk can take awhile.

This Hotel offers value for money and I would recommend it to those on a budget who want to stay at a clean and well looked after hotel. The only negative is the location but thats about it.

This hotel is situated in what our taxi driver described as a 'bad region', but we believe that this was his expression of the fact that it is based in the Russian quarter - we did not encounter open hostility between Latvians and ethnic Russians but feelings clearly still run a little high (go to the occupation museum to learn more.) It's true that this hotel is in a relatively run down area, but don't let that put you off - the hotel itself is fine. Rooms are basic and the bathroom is small, but it was nicely decorated and kept very clean. We didn't eat breakfast there, but it smelt good in the morning.

It's a 20-25 minute walk into the Old Town, so a fair way out. But there's a tram stop about 30 seconds walk from the hotel and for 0.7Lats a journey is a great option - the 5 stops take about 10 minutes and they run regularly from 5am until midnight every day. We were out until the early hours one night and took a taxi back which cost only 5 Lats (get them from the Radisson in the city.)

There are a couple of shops near the hotel for snacks and drinks, but they are quite small so if you want anything specific/international brands, bring it back from town with you.

We'd definitely stay here again if we were ever back in Riga.
