Yes, they are very cheap, but that was one cut I should not have done!
Staying in Economy Single room at Hotel Liva was a very unpleasant experience.
Biggest problem for me was the smell: Murky, damp and ashtray-like. Nothing could be done about this because the windows could only be opened to a small gap. There is no fan. It was not possible to upgrade due to the fact that the hotel is fully booked all summer.
You might not want keep the windows open though: Half the room face the very noisy central square where, buses, and party people pass all night. You also hear music with a strong bass, not sure where it's coming from. The rooms facing the backyard are more quiet, there instead you are disturbed by car alarms going off several times during the night, and staff talking loudly while on smoke break.
Narrow bed which leaned so that you felt you were about to fall out. Propped it up with books to counteract.
Plenty of mould in the shower cubicle. No effective ventilation in the bathroom.
Painted wood-chip wallpaper in an unattractive shade of green.
The hotel has a nice restaurant which I recommend.
While the hotel staff was not rude or difficult, I got the impression that they were not experienced, and not particularly service focussed.
Despite the fact that half the guests are Russian speaking, there is very little printed information to customers available in Russian. One would expect printed material etc to be available in the language used by the majority of the guests.
