I selected this hotel on the basis of the pictures about the rooms. The rooms seemed to be elegant and large, so the price seemed to be fare. My mistake was, that I did't read the reviews. I was a little bit shocked, when the rude receptinist informed, that our room is located in the basement. See the pictures I took - and compare. We have a saying in Finland: You can't always win, but you can always lose.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with two of my friends. We got a big room consisting of a bedroom and another room with sofa. The furniture is very stylish, all wooden and ancient-like.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast in the inner courtyard without any view but with a pleasant atmosphere. Once we had dinner and it was delicious.
The location is great - right in the old town. The street where the hotel is located is very nice to walk along.

There are some mixed reviews here to say the least and this the main reason we booked it! It's everything all the other reviews say! The hotel is extremely good value and superbly situated in the old town. Our rooms were down several flights of stairs deep underground and with no windows. Having said that we loved our stay. I always think a 'novel' hotel is more memorable than your average holiday inn. The breakfast was good the beds comfortable and the hotel clean and tidy. What more do you want for a short weekend break?

The rooms are smallish, but comfortable enough and clean. Breakfast is adequate but nothing spectacular. The location is excellent - just 3 minutes walk from the Tallinn main square. Perhaps the main drawback of the hotel is the long, very narrow and steep stars. After the reception you have to go down and the up again. The reason for this is that the hotel is built into several separate buildings. The stairs are not for elderly or overweight people.
Some of the rooms do not have windows.

There was considerable noise from the hotel courtyard at 1 AM. Because the rooms are build around the courtyard, any noise will echo to most of the rooms. It was not possible to sleep, until I complained about the noise to the hotel reception, but it took three calls to stop the noise.
The staff - all very young Russian girls - are not very enthusiastic about their job, but they were friendly (and very pretty).
