“Lovely air conditioning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

We stayed here for two nights. It was not easy to find, not being on the main road, its tucked behind, and has an enclosed entrance. The rooms are massive, ours had a double and two singles, seating area and huge bathroom in it. Its very basic, I cant say the beds were terribly comfortable. However I would have paid just for the air conditioning !
When we went it was for a family wedding in another part of lithuania and then went to vilnius for shopping, the weather was 35 degrees when we were there.
Breakfast was a huge selection, although I cant get around potatoes at breakfast time. There is a small restaurant and sports bar, Vilnius as a whole the menus are very limited. Everywhere was chicken and salmon and not much else. The restaurant at the hotel actually did a burger for my daughter.
Reception english speaking and perfectly pleasant, not chatty, Im not sure whether Lithuanians are shy or not but I did not get much in the way of interaction.
Its about ten mins from the airport taxi cost 80 litas which is about £20. Vilnius town centre is very pretty with plenty to see, quite a lot of shops and a market catering for tourists mainly.
I dont think I would ever go back to Vilnius, but if you are going its not a bad hotel. It has no lift so anyone with disabilities would struggle with the stairs.

“Huge Room, Limited Facilities and Breakfast, V Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2010

My impression of Sarunas is that it is intended more for business people. We received a complementary upgrade to a suite, and "Room" 200 is massive (it used to be two separate rooms). Beautiful triple aspect walk-in bay window, huge 3 piece suite, massive bathroom, but the shower curtain was inadequate to keep the water off the floor. We stayed in the recent cold spell, and temperatures outside hit -16, but the room was nice and warm, as was the hotel. If you are stuck for food, there is a pizza place 1 minutes walk, and a supermarket about 5 minutes away.
The breakfasts are slightly limited and variable, and the waitresses are reluctant to refill any empty receptacles until requested.
Spare pillows are hidden in drawers.
The staff had sufficient English to get-by (receptionists good), though considerably better than my Lithuanian. Don't expect any public to speak English at all.
The gym is well kitted out for weights, but less-so for cardio stuff. The random and incongruous thing is, it has two full-size basketball courts - but they are used a lot.
It is 15mins walk to town over the river, which is quite nice.
Taxis are the lazy way, but always prebook them, never flag them down. Ekipazas are amazing, but don't phone them until 5 mins before you want one - we used them about 10 times and they were NEVER longer than that. The one time we wanted one in 10mins, they rolled up in 5, waited, and didn't charge. Take a taxi from the airport - it's Ltl 17 (£4.30), slightly more in the rush-hour, as the train station is Ltl 10 from the hotel anyway. Superb ([--])
On the whole, fantastic value for £66 a night, and flights for £89 return with Aer Lingus - 5 days in Lithuania for £400 all-in.

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2009

Rooms are very clean and the hotel is in a fairly good location. You should have no problems walking at night. I would recommend for a solo traveler, but if you are looking for a romantic getaway you might consider some guesthouses are staying in the central. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good too.

“Good location, good price for quality. But old design”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2009

Good location, good price for quality. But old design.
In fact, it seemed like an old communist style design - the room was huge, but there were lacking pillows for second person.
The bathroom was rather small compared to the huge size of the room.
For budget traveling, it's quite worth the money, but definitely not worth if you can allow yourself to spend a bit more and stay in the heart of the old town.
Distance to old town - about 25 minutes (some 3 kms) on a slow walk.
Quiet neighborhood.

The breakfast was good. Nothing extremely special, but not unpleasant either.

“Quiet and spacious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2009

The room is spacious enough for 4* hotel. But furniture and bathroom equipment is only for 2-3*. There was a siiting area in the room. There were minibar, TV, hairdryer, conditioner, but no safe. Free parking and Wi-Fi. The receptionists were very nice. It was quiet at night. Breakfast was ok - musli, yogurt, cheese, bekon, tomatoes, cucumbers, boiled and fried eggs, fish. But there were not enough tables at 9 a.m. (breakfast was from 7.00 till 10.00). So we had to sit at the bar. Very good for price (45 euro at booking.com)
