“GREAT PLACE TO STAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

people found this review helpful

This is a small but well run place. No frills, no luxury but really friendly with English-speaking staff. It's located in the main drag of Vilnius, close to shops, post office, banks, buses, etc.
It's also a 5-minute walk from the Old Town and all its attractions.
Our double room was spacious and clean. Central heating working perfectly well. Bathroom in order. Breakfast was good (even though it's the same menu every day). We entirely recommend the place: it's functional, centrally located and the area is VERY SAFE.

“Good spot,a few doors down from Novotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

Considering this was a cheap room with a decent breakfast ( not hot ,but ample )
The Room is a bit dated and had a few stains here and there.
But Bedding was clean,Staff polite and Helpful.
We didnt see much of the Hotel as we were out most of the Night but shower worked fine.
Somebody on reception 24 hours, they give you a voucher to use in the Deli next door,so you can eat your Brekky and watch the world go by.
If in Vilnius I would stay here again.

“very good price quality rate at excellent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We stayed in this hotel for two nights at the start of our holiday. We enjoyed our stay in a spacious room, which was decorated a bit old-fashioned. The location is excellent, within walking distance of all major sights. It can be a bit noisy at night when sleeping with all windows open. Breakfast is ok and staff was friendly. Very good price-quality balance.

“Unbeatable price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

I booked this hotel as the price was so much cheaper than most other hotels in Vilnius and the good reviews I found on Trip Advisor. I must say I am glad I booked it, it was everything it needed to be, Clean, comfortable and right in the city centre! Even the breakfast which is included in the price of the hotel was ok typical continental breakfast, hosted by the cafe attached to the hotel. The location was perfect and on a night the street is all lit up and it all looked beautiful. The hotel receptionist spoke excellent english and we also got a in your pocket guide from the hotel which is a must read!!
I would definately stay here again and I can think of no negative points other than it was hot when we visited so the rooms were very stuffy and hot and no aircon, apart from that everything else was fine!

“Great budget hotel with outstanding location, but no Internet access, breakfast too generic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

Hotel Ambassador is a great budget hotel on Gedimino prospektas, Vilnius's most important (pedestrian) street. Surprisingly the street is fairly quiet at night. The old town is very close nearby, just walk right once you exit from the hotel. I paid less than $50 for my room including breakfast.

The hotel is in a nice old continental European building. Nice high ceilings, big rooms, beautiful big old windows that open to the street, etc. Could be in Vienna too. But, of course, Vilnius is a lot poorer than its Baltic pals Riga or Tallinn. This means no electronic key (not that I care). This also means no Internet access in the hotel (about this I do care).

Apart from lack of Internet access my only other concern is that breakfast is way too generic. Breakfast (no buffet, everybody gets the same breakfast) is served in the beautiful streetside café downstairs (with full-height sliding glass panes that open to the street) BUT they try hard not to be Lithuanian. And I find that a pity. This breakfast could have been served in any good European hotel. Nothing Lithuanian about it.

In summary: a great budget hotel that is old-fashioned in a nice way. If it was in Vienna and a bit more modern they'd charge you at least four times as much. The only two downsides I could identify: no Internet access, very generic breakfast.
