We were travelling as guests of a business organisation and so were put up in the suites. Very roomy, a little dated, very clean. The outside looks swanky and more promising than it actually was. The location was very good, close to the Gates of Dawn but I wish I would have known about the enclosed markets just around the corner (see an earlier review). If you possibly can, climb the steps through the nondescript building on the left hand side of the Eastern Gates (Gates of Dawn) to see the jewel-box of a chapel in the centre of the Gate - most worthwhile. The hotel service was friendly enough but without actually being engaging. My daughter inadvertedly ticked the dry-clean box on the laundry list and we paid a small fortune to have 8 prs sox, knickers, 3 jeans, 5 tshirts dry-cleaned, without the staff querying it. We also had issues about rooms not being available (remarkable considering who our business organisation was). Quality of beds and bedding was top notch. Adored the atmosphere of the cellar which was the breakfast room, and what a great breakfast it was. Medininkai outdoor restaurant next door was worthwhile. Also next door is a pancake parlour which deserves its own special mention. If you love hash browns or potato pancakes - then you'll adore this place. Having said all that, I don't know that I'd bother staying at the Europa Royale again - there is no pull. Unless I wanted to see the phantom in room 106 again.
