“Nice place to stay”

Writing review just from this hotel, using free WiFi (our room also got free PC :).
Staff at reception was very welcome, asked if we are first-timers in Vilnius and explained where we can go to eat (5 minute walk to several nice restaurants) and change currency (24 hours a day, train station, 20 minutes walk), provided the iron, and told us where we can park a car for free (just in front of side entrance (right side of hotel), under police camera).
Rooms are clean and kept in mint condition, and we can't hear any neighbors, breakfast is tasty.
Around 20 minutes walk to the border of old town, but there is a bright side: hey, walking by foot is really good for your heart :)

“Nice hotel 20 min from downtown Vilnius”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Centrum (or Grata as it is now called) is a nice hotel about 20 minutes from Vilnius old town. The area around the hotel is fairly residential and not much is going on around there.

Rooms in the hotel are clean and nice size. Staff was friendly and service was over all good, there was a slight discrepancy between parking being included (as it was advertised on the site) or not.

If you are staying in Vilnius for a while this hotel can be a nice option, however if you are staying just for a day or two I would recommend a more central location.

“Name changed to GRATA Hotel now”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

As in the title, the Centrum Uniquestay hotel in Vilnius has now become the "Grata" hotel.

I have used this hotel at least once a month (and mostly twice or three times a month) over the last 7 years, but never thought to write a review.

It is very conveniently situated for access to pretty well everywhere in Vilnius, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Old Town, and in a quiet street just off the main roads that will take you wherever else you want to go. Within easy walking distance is a major supermarket (Maxima in Mindaugas St) and in the same street can be found a really good chinese, mexican and Ukrainian restaurant, almost all next to or opposite each other at the Basanavicius st. end of Mindaugas st.

It has very many different room configurations, I generally use either the "double" or triple rooms if I have my children. The decor is simple in the triples but they are always clean. The beds are comfortable, showers work well (and baths too). The double or twin rooms are more cosy, and many rooms have modest balconies. Many tourist groups use the hotel now for its reasonable pricing, and it is extremely good value for money. WIFI is currently for free!

It is a large hotel, with parking facilities (paying) but still cheaper than leaving a car on the streets and more secure. Occasionally when really full, it can be a little noisey if there are groups, but I think only on one occasion has that disturbed my sleep, and I asked my neighbours to quieten down a bit which they did, with no hotel intervention.

Breakfasts are full of choice and always tasty, although in busy periods the bacon disappears and is replaced by sausages. I dont eat bacon very often, but when staying there I really enjoy a little spoling of myself, so get disappointed when its not there.

The staff have always been excellent over the years I have been staying there, some remain the same, others come and go, but service is friendly, with a smile and always trying to assist. Even (as you would expect over the 7 years) occasional minor problems occurr, they are swiftly and efficiently sorted out.

My last stay there was last weekend, and it remains the same as above...I think that is one of the reasons I really like this place...they try to maintain the standards, and they try hard.

One minor grouse, the bar has very friendly barmen, always.... but the decor...dark, uninviting and not cosy..it is only the barmen and staff that make it worth a visit.

Room Tip: I prefer the higher up floors on either the courtyard side or the Belarussian embassy side..the cour...

“Not nice to walk back at night.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011 via mobile

Far from station, walking aprox 30 min and another 30 to the old town. Dodgy to walk back at night, there's nothing around for dinner or a drink. Breakfast was quite nice but rooms were hoy and there was no air con. Higher rayes may be better.

“Pretty good mid priced option in Vilnius”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

Just back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Overall we felt it was a good place which suited our needs - mainly a bed for the night and not much more. Breakfast was good, with a selection of cooked food, cold meats, cereals and some pastries.

The room was quite big, modern and very clean. Our room on the first floor did not have a good view ( just the side of the Belarus embassy). There are lifts throughout, so anyone that has difficulty with stairs should have no problems. My wife is Russian and she had no problems talking to the reception staff in Russian. Everyone in Vilnius seems to be able to speak English, Russian and Lithuanian.

There is no air-conditioning in the rooms or reception. This is not a problems for most of the year. We chose some of the hottest days of the year, so the nights were a bit too warm.

It is a reasonable walk from the old town, but it is easy enough and quite pleasant. They have some bicycles for rental for the more fit guests. There are a few good restaurants in the streets nearby (look for the Ukrainian Borsht restaurant) and many more in the old town.
