As in the title, the Centrum Uniquestay hotel in Vilnius has now become the "Grata" hotel.
I have used this hotel at least once a month (and mostly twice or three times a month) over the last 7 years, but never thought to write a review.
It is very conveniently situated for access to pretty well everywhere in Vilnius, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Old Town, and in a quiet street just off the main roads that will take you wherever else you want to go. Within easy walking distance is a major supermarket (Maxima in Mindaugas St) and in the same street can be found a really good chinese, mexican and Ukrainian restaurant, almost all next to or opposite each other at the Basanavicius st. end of Mindaugas st.
It has very many different room configurations, I generally use either the "double" or triple rooms if I have my children. The decor is simple in the triples but they are always clean. The beds are comfortable, showers work well (and baths too). The double or twin rooms are more cosy, and many rooms have modest balconies. Many tourist groups use the hotel now for its reasonable pricing, and it is extremely good value for money. WIFI is currently for free!
It is a large hotel, with parking facilities (paying) but still cheaper than leaving a car on the streets and more secure. Occasionally when really full, it can be a little noisey if there are groups, but I think only on one occasion has that disturbed my sleep, and I asked my neighbours to quieten down a bit which they did, with no hotel intervention.
Breakfasts are full of choice and always tasty, although in busy periods the bacon disappears and is replaced by sausages. I dont eat bacon very often, but when staying there I really enjoy a little spoling of myself, so get disappointed when its not there.
The staff have always been excellent over the years I have been staying there, some remain the same, others come and go, but service is friendly, with a smile and always trying to assist. Even (as you would expect over the 7 years) occasional minor problems occurr, they are swiftly and efficiently sorted out.
My last stay there was last weekend, and it remains the same as above...I think that is one of the reasons I really like this place...they try to maintain the standards, and they try hard.
One minor grouse, the bar has very friendly barmen, always.... but the decor...dark, uninviting and not cosy..it is only the barmen and staff that make it worth a visit.
Room Tip: I prefer the higher up floors on either the courtyard side or the Belarussian embassy side..the cour...
