I'm not sure I can add much to what's already been said. It's a small hotel/guest house where I stayed three nights. The staff was always courteous and spoke English. They assigned the top floor room to me although I had requested a room on a lower floor when I made the booking. But they happily accommodated me. Maybe it was because I arrived soaked walking from the bus station or just looked exhausted.
The room was huge with a somewhat traditional look. It had a large bed, big comfortable leather chair and writing desk. It was really the size of a suite, but without a wall dividing the spaces. The bathroom wasn't large, but very clean and perfectly adequate.
Yes, the steps are steep and I was happy to be on the first floor up from the reception area. I never heard anyone in the other rooms. In fact, I didn't see other guests even at breakfast. The selection at breakfast wasn't the big buffet you find at larger hotels, but certainly adequate, fresh and good. But unlike the larger buffets, each morning I was asked what kind of eggs I wanted... an omelet or whatever. They would even turn on the English speaking TV for me.
Being set back from the street made it not only quiet, but feel less commercial, more like someone's home. Don't expect a large chain hotel, it's not. But that's a plus. I'm basing my evaluation on this level of hotel, not comparing it with a higher end one.
You walk through an archway at the street and then through a large courtyard My room had large opening windows all across one wall that faced the landscaped courtyard. What a treat compared with the dark almost windowless rooms you find elsewhere.
When I wondered about the weather prediction for the next city on my itinerary, they let me use the computer at the front desk. How often does that happen? It's a nice, quiet hotel in the perfect location for seeing the old town sights. It's also fairly easy to walk to the bus and train station, but a little uncomfortable in the rain.
