“Mixed feelings - good location but was poorly treated. Not 5 star.”

I won't stay here again. Room was booked for 4 nights two months prior, but on arrival they did not have a room. Accepted their upgrade offer, was told they may need to move us in 2 days. They did not get in touch until one afternoon, but we were at the beach. So basically they just went in our room and moved all our stuff. I could accept that, but instead of apologizing for their lack of communication the night before or that morning, they made out it was our fault! To rub salt in the wound the administrator was telling all her colleagues the next day, loudly, arrogantly, and (she thought) behind our backs. Exceptionally unprofessional. Remember this place is upward of 600 LTL a night. Beds were very comfortable, rooms are an OK size. Outside dining is next to a road, but it isn't too busy with traffic, although food is expensive for its distinctly average quality – which is an issue throughout Lithuania for those with Western palates. There is no lounge for enjoying a drink, just a couple of separate chairs in the restaurant. Buffet Breakfast was good. The tree setting is lovely and the beach is close by. Parking is tight. Pool is very small, but it doesn’t seem to be used much as most people hit the beach. But next time I will check out the local '4 star' hotels in the hope of getting better service.

“Just OK”

Perhaps because I had read great reviews of Hotel Palanga, I had very high expectations. Is Hotel Palanga a good hotel? Yes. Is it a great hotel? No.

We booked a superior room and it seemed like a normal room. Nothing really special. The breakfast was OK, the standard buffet items, again nothing special. We dined at their restaurant one evening. One dish was good, one very bland, prices quite high. The Spa is well maintained, but quite small and located in a windowless basement. We had asked for a quiet room because we had a baby. Instead we got a very noisey room with lots of activity all around us.

I thought that pricing was fair in the off season but I do not think it is worth the very high pricing and the minimum stay requirement in the summer months. Hotel Palanga is a fine hotel, but it is nothing special.

“Not a 5 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2008

My first impression of this hotel was very positive. The hotel was located in a very nice and quite area , few steps away from the the baltic sea.The room was spacious and comfortable .The only restaurant had a wooden deck terrace among trees that would definetly be lovely during the summer.
However, the moment that I wanted to burn off calories in the gym and enjoy the indoor swimming pool the positive feeling started to fade .
The first day we were told that hotel guests were to use the pool only between 8am to 2pm.Apparently the pool was afterwards booked for companies ?? Understandable since the pool was very tiny and made it only possible for 2-3 people to share it at the same time .You would feel like sharing a tub with strangers.

Th fitness center was located in a basement of another building and was again very small .The equipment consisted of 10 basic ones, though all being very new and clean.
Luckily I was the only one using the gym since a second person in there would be quite unbearable.
I recommend that you take your mp player, water bottle and towel with you since none of this was available in there.\
Not to forget to wear a jacket since you woul have to walk the path back in your sweaty gym clothes in the freezing cold during winter.
I would say that 2 of the 5 stars should be stripped off due to the pool and gym.Other than that our stay was nice, although I thought that the hotel was overpriced for Lithuanian standards and for what it had to offer.

“Beautiful and friendly place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2008

Have stayed there for a week in the beginning of June - must say that this is wonderful hotel with friendly staff and gorgeous food.
Although the sea was still pretty cold, the nature (sun, pines, air) was stunning.

We stayed at 1-room apartment on 5th floor with jacuzzi in it - and the price we paid was definitely worth it.

The town itself is pretty little, and there is no much entertainment such as clubs, parties etc. But if you want to spend some quality time with your loved ones and take some time to rest - that is the place.

Would love to come back.
