this hotel is dreary and dull outdated said would not go back, but somehow my friend and myself fell for it, as the price seemed reasonable, but what a mistake, the sheets were not clean when we told reception they just shrugged their shoulders oh well we only meant to sleep and shower the but not never again, sorrry folks if you have different views

Though my trip to Kaunas was not pleasant - I was sick as a dog with flu- I cannt fault this place. Lovely hotel & pleasant and cheerful staff. Will return here if I'm ever in the locality

Highly recommended! A hotel, built over 100 years ago with lots of character; exceptionally friendly and helpful staff; very comfortable, clean, renovated room with huge, double bed; modern bathroom, excellent power shower, constant hot water... and yet the amazing stained glass windows and grand staircase from the Soviet era have been retained! Excellent choice at breakfast-time (but look all round the bar area in case you miss the canapes, cheeses and cold meats etc. which should really be placed in cold storage - my ONLY criticism! - so get down there early). I paid the equivalent of 96 euro for 3 nights and would defy anybody to find better value anywhere on the 2011 international hotel circuit. Reasonably close to the bus and train stations and the Old Town; close to the public bus network; some of the major tourist attractions such as Christ's Resurrection Church; three or four museums, including the Mykolas art museum (free on Wednesdays in the off-peak season); lots of trendish bars and restaurants on the pedestrian street round the corner (though Pizza Jazz is no great shakes for pizzas!!). A trip to the Ninth Fort Museum is well-worth a visit - although it is a bus journey out of town (+ a walk with no signposts whatsoever; also, closes at 16.00 not 18.00 at the moment. Allow at least 2-3 hours for the visit). If I return to Kaunas, I will certainly stay at the Metropolis again.

My three night stay was very comfortable. Bright room which was spotlessly clean. Ensuite was also spotless with a very large walk-in shower. Plenty channels on the flat screen TV too. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was ample lighting. I would not hesitate to book this hotel in future!
