Charming hotel in historical building, excellent location right in a city centre (check shopping / minigolf or bowling at Mirage centre - right opposite). Staff displayed an impeccable level of service, the breakfast was truly delicious and deliciously fresh cuisine, the room was elegantly furnished as well as being warm and cosy. Truly recommended!

I have a simple system of rating hotels. It’s called Wife Test. Just two grades: good hotel or other hotel. How does it work? If my wife wants to have SEX there - good hotel. If she doesn’t (meaning we will NOT have sex) - other hotel. Ok what need’s to be there to pass the test? Aha… Clean, clean, clean. Spacious modern rooms, comfortable beds, well equipped bathrooms with bath tube or at least a proper size shower. Nice view helps. Good service helps (meaning you can order some good food to the room) Did I mention CLEAN? And of course me!

This hotel?? Definitely a GOOD one. Driving across Europe we decided among others to stop overnight in city of Żilina. Didn’t book or expect anything great. This hotel was a nice surprise. I guess for Żilina it’s not cheap, double room 100E uppss. We were told years back it used to be popular restaurant/wine bar. Few years ago (as we read with big financial help of European Union Funds) it was reconstructed into this modern chick hotel. We got big room with double bed and pull out sofa. Large flatscreen on the wall. Toilet small but nice and clean, thick towels, gowns, slippers, elegant toiletry. Parking just by hotel. No more then 5 minutes walk to old town square with lots of eating (and drinking) establishments. Breakfast we loved, great quality, chief preparing eggs as you like. All very elegant with Villeroy Boch tableware.

The only minus for us was big construction works done opposite the street. Those guys working from 7 till 24!! (no any unions there??!) However after closing windows it was ok, no noise (and air con working fine). And the fact that there was almost constant (17-22) happy hour in the bar (order 1get 2) would make up. We were pleased with the stay and would definitely come back.

Sorry for not doing this sooner, as it does deserve a mention. My self and my colleages have stayed here on 3 occasions know, why , well thats simple ,its excellent, on each occasion we stayed for 2 weeks as we were there on buisness each time, the food was excellent, the staff always on hand, even the ones that could not speak good English were able to solve or find soloutions for our own inability to speak Slovak, probably a big + for us was how helpful and freindlly the people were towards us.
The location was excellent 5 min from the Train station 6 minutes from Bus station, and just a short walk to more bars and resturants, plenty of small personel shops close by with some new shopping malls a short drive / taxi away. standerd rooms were good, large rooms looked even better, laundry service was used every day, with no problems, even found time for a massage one weekend. Private parking with security gates.
A well run, spotless hotel,
Zilina and the Dubna skala have made a lasting memory, can't wait to get back. K
