We were absolutely satisfied with Park Hotel Pelikán. We were is superior room. The room was very cosy, nicely furnished and well equipped. The restaurant of the hotel is high class, so I can suggest to resort to half pension catering. The breakfast was good (wide possiblity of assortment) and the dinner was really excellent.
The staff was very polite and helpful.
The wellnes area is olso nice. The pool is suitable only for swimming, because the water is a little cold.
We took excursions to the surrounding areas ( Bucsu, Bozsok, Velem, Rohonc, Kőszeg), so we enjoyed our time there.

This hotel is a wonderful redo of a 1903 (hospital) Austro-Hungarian building. They added a lovely glass enclosed pool and also a pretty restaurant with fine food. The staff is polite and helpful and the halls and the rooms evoke la belle epoque. What stops this from being a five star hotel? - not much. They don't have anyone to help you with your luggage when you arrive late at night and this does not strike them as odd. And the eggs in the buffet must be made at 3 AM because by the time you get to the restaurant for breakfast they are cold and inedible. Please pardon my quibbles because this is a great place to stay and the fees were shockingly reasonable. Do yourself a favor and stay here. And the city itself is a find worthy of an entirely separate positive review.

Great location right next to a park. Downtown is very close.
Receptionists were very friendly and fast either at check-in and check-out. Parking is a little far from the entrance, but at least safe.
Room was nice and big enough.
Wellness section looks OK, but pool is too cold for children. My wife had a massge and she said that the masseur lady was one of the best she had ever met.
The restaurant is really trendy and the dinner was very tasty, but too bad that it is not in the same building as the hotel, so you have to go out to get in there (alzhough it is a few meters only).
In general I would highly recommend this place if you decide to see Szombathely.

This Hotel was perfectly situated, walking distance to beautiful main square and very quiet and peaceful. It is a beautiful town centre. The restaurant was terrific and breakfast a little different to what we are used to but plenty of food. It was very expensive & had facilities like a gym, sauna & pool which we didn't use or need. What we needed wasn't present in the room, no jug, no tea & coffee, no telephone book, no toiletries in the room, no internet connection, it did have a fridge which was odd? We were searching for family members in the town and the telephone book and public internet connection would have been invaluable. Very disappointing. All internet cafes allowed smoking so we didnot enter-find smoking very offensive.
