I spent 6 days specifically for their "Health & Diet week". Unfortunately the staff at the restaurant didn't quiet know about this...as I was always shown to the 'buffet' for dinner, the food was excellent (with 5 course if you wanted it).
Unfortunately both my Hungarian and my German language skills weren't up to scratch either. Most staff spoke very little English//maybe not so good for a 4 star hotel.!
I came away 'finding some extra kilos, instead of loosing them... funny hey..
One the whole quiet enjoyable.

I was here with my husband. The hotel is not 4 star, but maximum 3. The hotel is clean, but the rooms are average, and almost everywhere it is allowed to smoke, and this was very annoying for us. We wanted to eat lunch at the restaurant, but there were only 5 main dishes on the menu... The lobby bar and the drinks are very expensive. The 'wellness' is very poor, there is a very small pool and a jacuzzi. There were a lot of old person. The town is small and everybody is a grabber there, so it was a delusion for us. You can bring pets in the hotel for an extra price. The staff is a bit incompetent in the restaurant.... By the way, if anyone wants to visit to city, this hotel is good to sleep for this price.

The rooms are a little dingy and awkward, even by European standards. The breakfast is mediocre and gets old quickly. Smoking in the hallways sometimes penetrates the room. No AC made it a long hot trip. Our room faced the front and was wickedly noisy on some nights.

Despite that, the front desk is pleasant and helpful. There are a lot of amenities to take advantage of. The forest nearby is pretty.

I recently spent 2 nights at the Lover.

The room was excellent. I found it very comfortable. Mine had a view into the Loverek forest in the back. Beautiful when it snowed (as it did).

The reception desk was very helpful, and the people I spoke to there spoke excellent English. (Very useful, as the 2nd language in Sopron is German.)

The hotel is not in the center of town, but there is frequent (~every 15 minutes) bus service into the center from a stop about 100 m from the door. (195 fts ~ $1 as of November - tickets from bus driver Either the #1 or #2). It is located on a 'turnaround,' so very quiet.

I have mixed feelings about the restaurant, but that's partly my own fault. I believe that reservations at the hotel all come with half-board. All meals are 'buffet-style.' I arrived just before the restaurant closed, and not much was left - so obviously the least attractive entrees. I also had to leave before breakfast after the second night, so only had one breakfast there. The breakfast I did have was fine, although not up to the standards of the two other Danubius hotels I've stayed at. The buffet dinner I had on the second night was OK - but fairly tasteless.

It should be remembered that Sopron is almost on the border with Austria, and is only about 20-30 miles from Vienna, so there are a lot of Austrians coming to the Lover. This leads to early dinners (why not much was left my first night), do one does sort of need to get to dinner shortly after it opens (6 PM). (A quick survey of license plates in the parking lot had about 30% Austrian.) One should therefore expect the hotel to cater to the Austrian clientele.

For those of a hiking turn of mind, there are numerous hiking trails from the Lover, or close to it.

Its situation is really lovely.

Thanks to my late arrival and early departure, I didn't have the opportunity to investigate or use a number of its facilities. Obviously others were using them however.

I don't know how much this is going to help anyone else, but I would stay there again.
