Before we booked our one week holiday here, I checked the one and only review of this hotel on tripadvisor and became quite unsure whether this is the right place for us, but then I also checked some other sites and found some more positive reviews, so finally decided to book this one. Our first impressions were very good and it did not change during the full week we were here. The hotel is a refurbished hotel, so it was built in the socialist sphere, however the refurbishment was made of a high standard, so the rooms are nice with modern furniture, plenty room for the packages, air-conditioning, mini-bar and LCD tv. The only downside is the bathroom, where they could have done a much better work. Everything worked wee, we had good wifi signal even at he end of the third floor. The wellness site is OK, with a smaller size pool (no jets or whirlpool) but there is a separate jacuzzi and some sauna cabins. The breakfast is fine, 3-4 different types of hit sausages, scrambled and boiled eggs, 2 types of juice, coffee, cocoa, tea, milk, 4-5 different types of sausages and hams, vegetables, fruits, 3-4 types of yoghurts, cereals, etc. We also tried the buffet dinner, which was a bit pricy (17 EUR per person), but plety of food and absolutely comparable to the prices of the city restaurants in Siófok. The staff was always kind or at least very polite. This is a holiday resort, so most people (95%) comes to the Balaton for leisure and not for business, however as the Balaton season lasts from June to September, the Vertes Hotel tries to attract people all year with its wellness site and conference facilities.
The location is really good, he Batthany street, where the hotel is located is one of the most beautiful streets in Siófok. The hotel is close to the beach but far from the main Corso where the bars and clubs are located, so no much disturbing sound coming in. The train station is relatively close, so sometimes you can here some trains and the loud speaker, but only if the windows are open and traffic is not very intensive on this line.
Overall we were very satisfied, the hotel is a good value for the money (we came with a special offer). Many restaurants and clubs are in the nearby, the Cocal Cola Beach, which was recently rebuilt is very nice, the Jokai park is also worth a visit, just as the harbour, all in walking distance. We had a nice holiday here and would be happy to return.
Recommended also for families, elderly and disabled people. Perfect for a romantic getaway.
