Definitely not a typical 4* hotel but fantastic nonetheless.
We drove down from Budapest in a little over 2 hours and found the hotel easily enough. There was a warm welcome at reception, followed by a guided tour of the hotel and wellness centre. As the hotel is small, there was only one member of staff on at reception - not all of the staff spoke good English, they were all helpful and pleasant.
The room itself was lovely and airy with large windows along 2 of the walls. Unfortunately, the back of the hotel overlooks a railway line, though this wasn't very busy, and if it ran through the night we weren't aware of it. The windows are double-glazed with blinds outside so our sleep wasn't disturbed at all. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage and wardrobe space. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and although there was no bath, the shower had more than enough features to compensate (I've never been sprayed in so many directions at once!)
There's plenty of open space around the hotel for lazing about, including a covered courtyard alongside the cafe/bar.
Breakfast offered a good range of juice, cereals, cold meats & cheeses, bread, fruit, though only opt for the coffee if you can take it Hungarian strength.
The wellness centre was immaculate, open for long hours and well equipped. We even had it to ourselves a couple of times.
We loved Siofok, though many of the bars/clubs had shut down for the season - we suspected it may be much livelier in July/August, but it was great for a peaceful break in September.
Plenty of restaurants around to choose from.
We spent a few days exploring the other towns around the lake. Getting the ferry to Tihany is an absolute must.
