We (2 adults and 2 teenage girls from Ireland) have just returned from a 5 day stay at the Lotus Therme. Despite concerns having read a recent review by an Australian couple, we found the staff, the facilities and the general area of Heviz to be first class. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Both the buffet breakfast and buffet dinner offered a wide range of food to cater for all tastes. Despite the hotel being full, there were no problematic queues at any time. The pools, spa and sauna areas are of a high standard and well maintained.
The only negative is that there seemed to be very few english speaking guests and the daily newsletter was only available in german and hungarian. So some knowledge of either language would help. The hotel should consider having an english translation of their newsletter. However, many of the staff seem to have good english language skills.
Heviz is a nice town with lots of small shops, cafe's etc. The lake is well worth a visit and also has lovely walking trails around it. We had holidayed at Tihany on Lake Balaton a few years ago and loved it. Heviz was worth the extra distance to travel from Budapest Airport (an easy drive on a good motorway - just under three hours).
We highly recommend this hotel as being everything it says on the website.

I'm sure there are many people who will enjoy staying at the Lotus Therme in Heviz. But for those of you who are NOT over 60, German and staying in the area to cure your gout in the thermal waters, TURN BACK NOW!!

My husband and I decided to visit this region of Hungary after numerous websites listed it as a must-see. It turns out it is only a must-see if you are an arthritic geriatric. There is absolutely nothing to do in this area apart from soak in the natural thermal lake. But good luck finding space among the aged water sports crowd and the pool noodles keeping the oldies afloat in the waters.

And we had chosen the Lotus Therme based on their impressive and comprehensive website. After a night of the worst food we have ever ingested, loud, crass music ruining what might have been a romantic evening, and an egg gas smell permeating the entire building, it's safe to say the Lotus Therme website was just clever false advertising.

The only good thing about our stay? One was the journey through the lovely towns along Lake Balaton towards Heviz. The other was leaving Heviz in our dust as we high-tailed it out of there after just one night.

Another plus was how very understanding the hotel was when we requested we cut our stay short by 2 nights - they did not even blink an eye when we said we would not honour the late notice fee.

Book at your own peril!

Very nice hotel with great therme area. We spent a weekend there and had very relaxing time. Wonderful park, very well kept isolates from the outside. Numerous pools and saunas clean and warm. Food could be improved, but is overall acceptable, I would suggest to put more dietetic foods. Good drinks in the bar. I would just suggest to limit more the areas dedicated to smokers, in a Health Center you would expect it.

We've just visit this hotel, and I have to say that this is a spotless place for relaxing, and enjoy the unique termal water of Hévíz. Professional, and helpful stuff (check in, concierge service) very clean rooms with balcony. The style of the hotel could be more updated, but it's still nice and intimate, considering that it's a 15 years old buliding. Outstanding breakfast and buffet dinner at Corvinus restaurant, don't miss to try!
