Having just come from Budapest's 5* Hotel Kempinki, the appearance of the Europa Fit was initially a bit disappointing for a 4 star superior. It as a tad ordinary'ish and comfortable rather than luxurious. However, staff were very helpful, facilities were good with a swim from indoor to outdoor pool with various jets plus another separate thermal spring water indoor pool where various aqua exercise classes were held. There was also another large outdoor pool for the summer season.
Buffet style food was plentiful and varied although we found the food hearty rather than gourmet. In addition to half board there was complimentary soup offered at lunchtimes. The bedrooms were larger and more comfortable than the website showed but a little old fashioned in styling. There was usually live entertainment in the evenings although at the time of writing, there wasnt a bar area for non-smokers.
Everyone has a brief check up with the doctor who recommends various massages some of which were included in the package price. Some beauty salon treatments were included. Extra treatments were very good value and excellent.
We had nearly booked the hotel next door, the Carbona, and when we visited, we found it to be much more recently refurbished and up to date with a fabulous swimming pools & facilities. The Carbona in December also offered cheaper deals. We paid 713 euros for 7 days half board & 6 treatments and the Carbona for the same time, same deal was 416 euros per person.
Having said this - the value of the Europa Fit and its treatments was superb value compared to the UK's Ragdale Hall. Whilst it wasnt as luxurious as Ragdale Hall, we had terrific treatments, good food overall and found the pools & sauna area excellent.
