The hotel is located very centrally in Gyor and is a former monestary. The rooms also look like a monestary today, well renovated though. This is fine and there is nothing wrong with living in a spartanic hotel for a night or two, but the overall experience was disappointing. The bathroom looks like it comes straight from Hungary in the 1980s and has not been changed since. The hotel breakfast is also spartanic and very boring. Some dry bread with marmelade and cheese, that's it. The coffee is watery. The staff in the restaurant is incredible unfriendly and very very slow. We made the big mistake to eat at the reaturant at night. The food was fine, but the service was horrible. It took us an hour to get our food, still there were only two other tables to serve. The waiter (the man from the breakfast buffet as we discovered later) was extremely slow and did not even excuse the food being late. The staff in the reception was friendly and helpful though.

Overall a disappointing experience. If you have to stay at Klastrom take a good shower before you come and make sure you avoid the restaurant.

Booked a room months in advance, and got a confirmation e-mail back. All seemed great - no need to worry I thought. Oh - and it being a very central location seemed good as well.

I spent the day in Esztergom (on the Danube bend about 90 km from Gyor) and arrived at the hotel late in the evening, although I'd emailed the hotel about 2 days before to tell them about a late check-in. The guy at the front desk said "tonight we have celebration" to explain the very loud music - I think it was a wedding going on. Even in a large hotel, you can hear the music upstairs, although it's not that loud. The other problem, was that when I got to my room, the lights didn't work - I went back to reception to ask if I could maybe have a different room with lights that worked. Nope - can't do that, and also no chance of getting someone to fix it.

I get the feeling that, at least at the weekend, the hotel is geared up very much towards the general wedding-type trade - if you're part of the wedding party, you'll get good service and have a nice room. If you're not part of the group, you might like to look elsewhere. If you do decide to stay, try to get a room on the 1st floor which seems to have larger rooms than the 2nd floor

I have stayed at the Klastrom Hotel in Gyor in July 2005. The setting and the websites looked good. I booked my room for a reasonable price. On my arrival I had a very bad surprise.
The inner courtyard was suitable for celebrating parties (especially marriages) and hugely loud disco music was played for the all afternoon and evening, The music was so loud that the the windows would shake.
I posted this review as my first review in order to prevent other travellers to be disappointed with this hotel. On the top of it the hotel is located in a cloister and the church's bell is also very loud every hour and at 7 AM it really goes mad!
Likely the breakfast is very good, at least.....
