“Nice experience, far from city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

Stayed at the Hotel for two nights(weekend) for business purpose, as it was in walking distance from the place we had to go for the meeting. Nice hotel(boat) on the river. Rooms were a little bit cold the firts night( I think it opened just for us). Free WiFi all over the hotel. Breakfast was simple. We had also lunch and dinner wich was very good(variety of plates to choose). View from the restaurant to the river. The stuff was friendly. The room was big and clean. We had late check-out with no extra charge. I think the place is better for summer.

“Not what is says”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

I found this hotel poor quality and two star. Firstly it does not have ATM, currency exchange, hair dryers in rooms and no shuttle service to the city. I went in April and the season does not start until May, so there is there is no boat service into the city only taxis which cost 15 pounds sterling each way! Because its out of season there is no bar or restaurant both are closed and the mini bar is empty.I am afraid its room only!

“Ok, but not four star!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2009

Very basic rooms with lots of imitation pine. As it was advertised as a four star, I was expecting something a bit more special than what I found.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and all spoke good english.
The breakfast was disappointing and undercooked.

“A haven on the Danube”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2008

Having previously stayed at the Botel Lisa, this was an interesting contrast. Again it is a little way out of the city, and not quite so close to the train as the Botel, the walk taking about 10 minutes. The rooms are large, and well furnished. I agree that the cleaning is a little haphazard, but I am quite capable of cleaning after myself, so that was not a problem. The room had a fridge which was handy, but no kettle (as seems common in Europe). The staff are lovely, and there is a free internet connected PC in reception. Breakfast was included, and was pretty good.
The best thing about this hotel is definately its location on the river. It is a more attractive location than the Botel, and the views over the Danube are just stunning. I went in winter, but in summer it must be absolutely fantastic. Although it was very quiet, the banks of the river were full of (closed) bars and hotels, suggesting that it might be a lot busier in summer.

  • Liked — The river
  • Disliked — Walk to the station-it was very cold!

“Unusual hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2008

Quirky hotel - revamped Soviet paddle steamer on the Danube. We had a huge well appointed room at the back (more like a suite really) with an entrance to the terrace. Reading through the precious comment we wondered about the cleaning. It was a bit haphazard - seems every other day rather than daily - and shampoo was only provided on day 3, but it was by no means dirty - just that the flor in the bathroom was not swept and some signs of our use of sinks were still there in the evening. The hotel is miles outside the city so if you want the city buzz it will not be a place for you. City transport is good but it's still a fair walk to catch the suburban rail (HEV) to the city. The bus was closer but not that frequent. It pays to work out the connections before you get there - the city website is helpful and with a few changes you can easily get there from the airport by public transport for a few quid (taxi is about £15). But for serenity you can't beat it.

Don't expect much in a way of food in the hotel - the restaurant was closed all the time we were there - possibly because there was hardly anyone staying. The minibar in the room was empty and I am not sure whether there was room service available. But there are plenty of food shacks and a restaurant on the river so, as long as you can decipher the menu (and are not a vegetarian) you will be OK. Breakfast was OK with a choice of cereals, meats, cheeses and egg dishes. Omlet comes with cooked ham and peppers and fried eggs are liberally sprinkled with paprika, so if you don't like it, make sure you say before they cook it. It helps if you know a bit of German because except for the reception staff, no one speaks English.

  • Liked — great room, nice location
  • Disliked — far from the city
