“small and cute hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

It is far from center. It is not far from Polus shopping mall.
But we chose here because it is close to our friends apartment. Transportation is easy, bus to almost frontdoor, then bus connected with subway to town center.
Winter is not the best season, so we didn't see other guests, and don't expect variety for breakfast for this reason.
Kind staffs.
Air condition kind of too warm.
Recommended if you chose this area for some reason like visiting friends nearby.

Although a litlle out of the centre this is alleviated by the the superb tram services that go to the Metro.
English speaking hotel clerk, Laszlo speaks very good English and is very helpful

“Some rustic charm”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

I gave the review this title to be kind and because I don't know general standards in Hungary, never having stayed anywhere else there before.

We stayed for just three days as our daughter was taking part in the Triathlon World Championships and we were supporting the team.

The hotel does look charmng, in an old worldly Germanic way, but to be honest 3 stars is over generous in my opinion.

Our room was very basic. The old heavy TV had no English channels and the remote control didn't work. The bottom sheet was too small for the bed and by the time we woke up in the mornings it was completely rucked up and uncomfortable. In the bathroom the shower head was broken and the only way to have a shower was to hold it in your hand and spray yourself; the towel rail was also hanging off the wall. There were no toiletries provided - only a soap container fixed to the wall. The safe locked OK but was not attached to anything so a thief could just have lifted the whole thing and made off with it! This would not have been too difficult either as our room door didn't lock properly!

To be fair we didn't ask anyone to sort these problems out as we were in and out all the time and only used the room as a place to sleep, but the mere fact that so many things were wrong suggests that insufficient care is taken of customers' comfort. Perhaps this is commonplace in Hungary, I don't know.

On the other hand the staff seemed very friendly, everything was kept clean and the buffet breakfast was better than we expected as there were scrambled eggs as well as cold meats and the usual continental fare.

Would I recommend it? Probably not; it's quite a distance outside the city, which is inconvenient and you have to catch a bus to the nearest metro station (although they are frequent). All things considered if I went to Budapest again I would pay a bit more and find somewhere in the city itself - probably 4 star.

“disappointment in Budapest”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Old building, not clean. We foound lots of ants on the floor, water was half-heated, power point was loose, night light did not work, there was no elevator, breakfest not so good for this money, room price is high. For this money you can get much better hotelrooms at better places in Budapest. Air condition was good working, staff were nice. In restaurant we found bad odour.

“Nice hotel but too far out of the way!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

This hotel is set in the suburbs so if you wish to see the real Budapest then this is where to stay. I would not feel comfortable going out alone at night and there are no amenities available within the immediate location after 6pm except for the local pub or two which, we were advised by the transfer driver not to visit because they are the favorites of the local gypsy population who you should apparantly avoid like wildfire. Due to the location of the hotel you will have to travel into the city before you are able to enjoy any sort of activity. The bus ride to the metro link(number 82 from right outside the hotel) which you will have to get to take you to the city takes you through ghetto style areas which really opens your eyes to the way the typical hungarian person lives.
