The Hostel is very big with a lot of rooms. Pro's: super central location (near main shopping streets, river and subway), washing machines, internet and large rooms, helpful staff.
Cons: the shared bathrooms may not be enough if it's very full, bu we didn't have trouble. there is no elevator and there really isn't a common room to socialize.

This hostel was awful. Poor facilities, tiny kitchen for the amount of people there. The so called 'bar' was non-existent and was just an attic room with some terrible plastic chairs and one internet portal where you could not even sit down. Staff were generally very grumpy and looked like they didn't want to be there. We were charged 50 euros for a twin room which I think was overpriced since we managed to get a nice hotel for 59 (we decided to leave this hostel early). The only thing going for this place is probably the location, but I am sure you could do better in Budapest than this place.

Booked online and recieved a substantial discount. very large hostel right in the centre of budapest. the location really makes this hostel. Breakfast isn't included or offered at this hostel and the bar on the top floor is just a room with some seats. not the best hostel to meet other travellers as the hostel has just feels a little bit too big. hostel seemed to have quite a young feel and all the travellers we saw were under 25. overall we had a brilliant stay in budapest and meet some great people at the hostel, though i do think we were very lucky with our room mates. for the price probably would stay at mellow mood again.

I followed a Rick Steve's recommendation on this one- should've known that Rick Steve's may be great for budget hotels, but not so much with the hostels. We booked a few dorm beds at their large kiosk inside the train station (which may have been a clue), and we were promptly driven to the hostel.

The young employees at check in were indifferent, bordering on rude. Rooms are basic, with about 12 dorm beds in each room, and bathrooms down the hall. The elevator was grungy, the bathrooms and showers even grungier, and there was no bar to speak of, as was advertised on their website and promotional flyers. The one computer for internet use was broken and there was no lounge area to meet and hang out with fellow backpackers. Obviously, breakfast was not offered or included.

As we were leaving, the receptionist berated me for losing the little paper reciept that she says I was told to keep and return upon check out. Again we were yelled at for not producing reciepts for our baggage that they stored for us, yet the employee had forgotten to give us reciepts.

Really, go somewhere else- the only thing this hostel has going for it is the fabulous location.
