“AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

I was tempted not to give this hotel any rating at all, but I decided that the food in the Restaurant was half decent, even though we were waiting an hour.

The rooms are small and cramped. The bathrooms are tiny and cramped. The shower dribbles out water and one only has enough room to step out of the shower, not enough room to even dry ones self. even brushing your teeth is difficult as one foot basically has to be out the door. The beds were comfortable and the location was great for us as we were attending the Sziget festival down the road.

The hotel has a very eerie feel to it. The lifts are old and feel like they are about to break down any minute. A random guy (never knew what he did)

The staff were ok, except one lady at reception who was no use at all. She did have perfect english. I had an emergency and needed to go to the hospital. The lady told the taxi man the situation. I assumed that she told him to bring me to the hospital, but we ended up stranded in an old persons home and 15 euro short.

We finally got to the hospital a & E and while we were there, our hotel room got robbed. A considerable amount of money was taken from our room ( as there was no safe in the room, we had no other option but to hide our valuable). The purse that contained the money was hidden deep in a rucksack. We complained to the lady at reception and again she was useless. we asked her to ring the police but she didn't. she finally showded us on a map where the police station was. Before we left, we left s trap to ensure that it was actually staff members or maids that had stolen from our room. We left an empty purse on the bed, with a pen marking its exact position as well as a hair covering it. (James Bond Style) and we took a picture. when we arrived back later in the day, the purse was open and in a different position to how we left it, even though nothing else surrounding it on the bed had been moved.

All in all, this hotel was one of the worst experiences of my life. If you want to get robbed and sent to a nursing home rather than a&e, then this is the hotel for you.

“Poor Quality hotel - Not recommended!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

The hotel is far away from the centre of Budapest (about 30 mins) and is right in the middle of a very run down part of the outskirts of the city. We did not feel safe at all. Intimidating groups of locals congregated nearby seeming to watch our every move.

The hotel itself was at best what you would expect from a 2 star hotel, despite being advertised as a 4 star because it could tick boxes such as having a mini-bar and a shower it is not what you would expect! We were handed a remote control at reception for the TV in the room! The photos of the hotel should act as a warning because there are no pictures of the bedrooms. There is no safe in the rooms and the room door showed evidence of having been forced open and shoddily repaired. The wall paper, circa 1974, was peeling from the walls and the radiator was old and looked dangerous. The entire toilet/shower was well past it's best needing a complete refurb. The beds were small and soft with minimal bedding looking more like a hostel than 4 star room. The lifts were very old with a distinct feel of the old soviet era with it's mechanical starkness.

We could not get out of the hotel fast enough! Booked into another 4 star hotel in the city centre which was fantastic and at the same price despite being Night and Day by comparison.

In conclusion - we have stayed in many hotels around the world and this is by far the worst one yet!

“This IS 2007!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2007

Stayed here recently. Thuis hotel is very basic, although the beds are reasonably comfortable. Room small with cramped bathroom/toilet which always smelled foul! Colleagues had cockroaches in their room! Food was awful especially the breakfasts which appeared to consist largely of left-overs from dinner the previous night!

This hotel is desperately in need of a makeover in every respect! Management need to realise that this is post-Communist 2007!
