“A very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed here for 5 days and all of the main sights of Budapest were within easy walking distance. The breakfast was not great, so we normally just had coffee and then ate food in one of the local cafes - very cheap. We got the room cheaply through a promotion and it offered excellent value for money. Would definitely stay again!

Dear seattle29!

Thank you for writing a review about Hotel Erzsébet City Center and for staying in our hotel for such a long time. I am surprised about your oppinion about our breakfast, most of the time we get huge compliments about the value and the great choice, but of course if it does not fit your taste there are plenty of cafes in the area, you are free to choose. I am really glad that you found our hotel an excellent value for money, and I really hope we can welcome you in our hotel again soon.

“Great location with comfortable rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Erzsebet in November 2011 and found it to be a wonderful hotel for sightseeing in Budapest. Most of the sights, with the exception of City Park/Heroes Square, are within walking distance. There is also a metro stop nearby for those who want to get to sights more quickly. The hotel is situated between the historical sights to the north and great restaurants (Raday Street) and the Central Market to the south. Walking in the area is pleasant and I felt safe even at night.

Rooms are comfortable, though bedding could use an update. Bathrooms are much larger than many European hotels and ours even had a tub/shower combo which I prefer to tiny shower stalls. Staff were pleasant and breakfast buffet was pretty large with both hot and cold items.

I would highly recommend this hotel for those looking for a comfortable place to sleep within walking distance of both main sights and public transit. If you are looking for upscale ammenities such as a spa or fitness center this probably isn't the place for you; better for budget travelers. I was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel based on the price paid.

“Excellent location and a very good hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

The hotel has a very good location, the majority of important places of the city can be seen by foot. The only place a little far away is the Zoo, Szechenyi Bath, The Heroes' Square; in any case close to the hotel there is a metro station so there is not a big problem. For a taxi between the baths and the hotel we paid environ 10 euros. For all the rest there is no need to use public transportation. In five minutes you can reach Vaci utca and then Vorosmarty (especially for those going for Christmas Market it is perfect).
The hotel is in a quite area, people from the reception are very polite. You can find there free city maps. They also give at the check-in some tips about where to go, where are restaurants, bars, shops and they answer you about everything you need to know.
Close to the hotel there are also supermarkets (one of them opened non-stop) and an exchange with the best rate.
Breakfast is between 7 and 10 o'clock and it is great, you definitely have something to choose, there is everything that can be eaten for breakfast. Of course it is the same every day but I can't find a problem with this because you can't eat all of things from there every day :D.
About the rooms they are big enough and the bathroom also. Shower cabin is very good isolated so no water on the floor after taking a bath.
There are rooms for smokers and non-smokers but in the smokers rooms excepting the fact that you can find an ashtray there is no annoying smell.
Rooms are cleaned every day, towels are changed when they are thrown on the floor.
In conclusion the hotel is more than ok and I would definitely recommend it. It is very good for a city trip and with a very good quality/price report.

“Bad adventure with taxi company”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We would like just to leave the following information.

We had a very nice stay in your hotel, hotel with a good price vs quality, good breakfast,etc..

On our departure day, we have ordered a taxi from the official airport company. When I asked for the return reservation, it was first not possible, because not the same company as the hotel is working with. As a hotel you need to serve the customer and not think only about the commission !!! After a while the concierge took over and he would do the necessary. Big was our surprise when in the evening not the official taxi company had been reserved, with already some discussions with the taxi driver before leaving, because of course not possible at the agreed rate. Finally he accepted to drive us to the airport at the agreed rate. In the taxi we were asked if we needed to be at terminal 1 or 2, as no indications were given on our tickets, we informed the taxi driver that we were flying with SN Airlines to Brussels. The taxi dropped us off at terminal 1. When entering the airport, we understood that he did not drive us to the correct terminal. Luckely we still had our Budapest Card with us and we could take the bus between the two terminals for free.

I am working myself in a hotel in Brussels and such situations are not accepted. You have chosen for your commission with the taxi company, but you lost a client. Trust is very important and you need to know that there are enough hotels in Budapest with a good price quality.

I hope this may be a lesson.

Regards, Ronny

Room Tip: We were on the 8th floor and it is really quiet.

We are really sorry for your inconveniences with the taxi company, we will immediately check up on the practice of taxi ordering in our hotel. I hope you will give our hotel and our front office another chance to make it right to you.
Despite this situation I hope you had a really great time in Budapest and you had the chance to visit most of the sights thanks to our central location.
