My aunt Clarisse used to take me to the restaurant that is now the Hotel Hold, just round the corner from the Hungarian National Bank! Some years later, I took one of my Hungarian/Magyar Lawyer contacts from London to lunch or dinner there! Then the Hotel Hold Budapest was built and rebuilt, several times over! Third time lucky, in 2007, when we visited Hungary/Budapest on family business, we were invited to have a free dinner at the Hotel Hold! It went very well, and we enjoyed the meal and the evening. We sat at a table for two on an elevated part of the ground floor restaurant, just across the steps leading to the 'pince' and found easy to attract the attention of the waiters when they were needed. Otherwise the table was reasonably private, we could be seen, but hopefully not heard! We did not sleep at the Hotel, so this is only a restaurant review! I heard that the Hotel was rebuilt again recently, but, as I am considering visiting Budapest again this march, I have a fond, warm feeling about the Hotel Hold and its staff.
